Position title: Finance Officer
Duty Stations: Mekelle, Tigray
Duration of Contract: One-year contract, Renewable (with 60 working days probation period)
Salary: As per the salary scale of the organization

JOB SUMMARY
The Finance Officer ensures that the highest standards of financial record keeping and reporting to be achieved as per FH Ethiopia and Donors requirements and compliance are met.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review Regional/Mekelle office payments and Manage payment documents as per DOA.
- Prepare Regional/Mekelle office payment journals on MS Dynamics and submit to next level reviewer weekly, bi-weekly and monthly.
- Compile ER and prepare PR journal of Mekelle office and upload,
- Process payroll deduction payments and follow up all legal labilities status timely.
- Maintain aging of balance sheet accounts and follow up for timely clearance
- Checks quarterly fixed asset reports of the regional office and projects.
- Reconcile stock balance of projects for vehicle spare parts and fuel on monthly basis.
- Reconcile cash and fuel coupon balance with the system generated balance.
- Prepares monthly VAT reimbursement report to USAID and send to CO for consolidation.
- Support the CO in audit (internal and external) process.
- Ensures yearend Accruals preparations and subsequent clearance
- Conduct surprise cash count
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation
- Assist the finance coordinator in cash follow management
- Regularly monitor cash registration ensure the balance is up to date
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Regional Finance coordinator.

- Provide adequate time to staff to participate in gender sensitivity workshops and related events.
- Through observation, interviews, and spot-checks, ensure that the staff planning process is gender sensitive.
- Build a better gender balance in staffing through affirmative action.
- Observe if women staff are as involved as men in high-profile activities such as interaction with visitors and chairing meetings, and take corrective action if warranted.
- Encourage female staff to participate in external networks (local and regional), as well as seminars and cross visits.
- Facilitate open and regular discussions with staff on about the work environment, policies, and values convenient to gender issues.
SAFETY & SECURITY RESPONSIBILITY
- Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;
- Visiting project offices and operational areas periodically to meet staff and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures;
- Explains to staffs the reasoning behind the organization’s safety and security policies and procedures
- Organizing local training sessions, such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Defensive Driving for staff members. If possible, he/she should conduct briefing and training sessions himself/herself;
- Ensures that safety and security objectives are added to performance reviews and evaluations of all staff members;
- Encourages staffs to adopt safe and secure practices. Ensuring that updated personnel information related to safety (Record of Emergency Data) and security management are kept in Human resources.
About You
JOB LEVEL SPECIFICATIONS

- Flexible and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work proactively, organize and manage own work and assist others
- Computer literacy included demonstrated proficiency with Outlook, Work, Excel and off the shelf accounting software, preferably MS Dynamics and Power BI
- Demonstrated strengths in relationship management; able to work with diverse groups of people in multicultural, team-oriented environment.
- Able to achieve results in a quality, timely, and cost-effective way.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- B.A Degree degree in accounting and finance, project management field from a recognized and certified institution or university. At least 3 years relevant experience in grants management and financial/operational NGO environment is preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Basic computer proficiency is Mandatory
- Proficiency in English and knowledge of the local language
