International Development Enterprises (iDE) is an international NGO dedicated to creating income and livelihood opportunities for poor rural households of Ethiopia through various projects implemented in different parts of the country. Currently, iDE has secured funding from the Development Fund of Norway for implementation of the project known as Climate Adaptation and Rural Development (CARD II). The Project will be implemented in four woredas (Aleltu & Kimbibit of North and Add’aa & Gimbichu of East Shoa Zones), Oromia Regional State. We are seeking to recruit qualified and experienced personnel for the positions specified hereunder. Key Responsibilities:

The Agri Business & Livelihood Officer is responsible to provide solid technical expertise in a wide array of agri-business and livelihood development component of the CARD II project. The tasks include: conducting value chain analysis; facilitating farmers’ access to market information on regular basis; organizing the farmers into business groups and cooperatives; creating market linkages; identifying capacity building needs of smallholder farmers and their organizations; and building their capacity to improve their marketing capabilities, competitiveness and business management skills.

Duty station: Aleltu, with frequent travels to Project woredas and kebeles.

Job Requirements

  • MA/MSc (desirable) or BA/BSc Degree in Marketing Management, Business Management, Agricultural Economics, Agri-Business, Economics or related fields
  • At least 3 years for MA/MSc and 5 years for BA/BSc direct experience on smallholder farmers’ agribusiness and livelihood development.
  • Knowledge and skills in the following areas are required: value chain analysis; market systems development; value chain financing and investment; and producer/marketing cooperatives, financial Inclusion, enterprise development, etc
  • Mature personality, result-oriented, problem-solving attitude, and ability to work with little guidance.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of the local community’s language (Afan Oromo) is essential.
  • Proven marketing and communication skills; ability to professionally and effectively communicate with individuals, groups and institutions at various levels.
  • Sociable and team player.
  • NGO or private sector experience is preferable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
