National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) is looking for an Assistant Training Officer to be responsible for handling the upcoming election project. She/he will be working closely with the team members to ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track. Responsibilities include submitting project deliverables, preparing status reports, and establishing effective project communication plans as well as the proper execution of said plans.

Required number: One

Reports to: Training Coordinator

Duty station: NEBE Head Quarter, Addis Ababa

Duration: 12 months with a possibility of extension

Salary:  Attractive (Non Civil Service Scale)

Expected Start Date: Immediately after obtaining the contract

Travel:  Travel to the field may be required

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: Standard office and field work environment

 Major Responsibilities

·         Maintain crucial training documents which track progress, file all documents in an appropriate database, ensure that all documents are accurate and have been accepted by the supervisor;

·         Support the development and execution of an effective training strategy and training materials targeting election officials at various levels based on approved work plan(s), budgeting, and other relevant framework;

·         Coordinate with NEBE to Support the development and execution of an effective training strategy and training materials targeting election officials at various levels based on approved work plan(s), budgeting, and another relevant framework;

·         Ensures crucial training documents which track progress, file all documents in an appropriate database, ensure that all documents are accurate and have been accepted by the supervisor;

·         Participate in forums tied to electoral training administration; closely monitor training strategies from the experiences of other countries and contribute to the enhancement of the overall training strategy and process;

·         Support the identification of training centers and distribution of invitations to training participants;

·         Assist in the recruitment of election officials, and ensure that sufficient training is provided on voter’s registration, candidate registration, voting and counting, and results announcement;

·         Support the appointment of trainers, gather information of trainees and monitor and assist in the overall training process;

·         Closely monitor the training schedule, monitoring deadlines for each training task, raise potential delays with the supervisor;

Job Requirements

·         Advanced University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in Business Administration, Statistics, Political Science, Communications, International Relations or related area required

·         For MA holders: At least 3 Years of experience

·         For BA holders: At least 4 years of experience

·         Pervious work in an election environment is a plus

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.

·         Strong communication (spoken and written) skills and ability to articulate ideas in a clear, concise style

·         Ability to plan own work, manage conflicting priorities, report on work progress, and deliver outputs in a punctual manner;

·         Demonstrating good oral and written communication skills;

·         Willingness to adhere to all principles of confidentiality;

·         Excellent reporting and document handling skills;

·         The ability to remain highly organized while handling multiple tasks under tight deadlines;

·         The ability to complete tasks with limited supervision;

·         Demonstrated ability to operate well in a collaborative and cooperative environment;

·         Fluency in English and Amharic required.  Fluency in other local languages a plus.
