About the Organization:

VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in four of the Regional States of the country.

VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for Branch Manager role. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

Major Responsibilities

Job Responsibility #1: Marketing and Business Development

§  Makes a comprehensive study and analysis on the socio-economic aspect of the target population as to the need of financing and other services within the short and long term and submits a strategic marketing and business development plans;

§  As part of the strategic marketing plan, prepares a short-term marketing & business development plan supported by detailed action plan for the Department;

§  Identifies, analyses, and exploits market opportunities to fulfil the Company’s mission and objectives;

§  Imitates project/new business ideas (example, product for pastoralists), prepare proposals and plans for donors and funding agencies and plays an active role in the implementation;

§  Leads studies and designs effective promotional activities to encourage the public in using services provided by VF – MFI;

§  Segments and selects target markets, develops marketing & business development strategy and designs supporting marketing & business development management systems for planning and controlling information;

§  Periodically assesses and brings to the Departments ’s attention the impact of the credit and saving services on the life of the rural and urban poor.

§  Serves as team leader in caring out an independent investigation where higher rates of defaults as a result of causes other than natural adversity are reported and comes up with proposals for corrective actions;

§  Reviews the evaluation reports and the impact of prevailing interest rates on both the client and the Company;

§  Works closely in perfect harmony with operation Department and exchanges information and assistance required by both work units.

Job Responsibility #4: Staff Management

Manages and supervises, leads, guides and supports the staff under his/her supervision;

Completes all performance management activities including: performance planning, monitoring, and annual performance appraisals of staff reporting to him/her.

Job Responsibility #5: Reporting and Learning

  • Keeps up to date with new developments marketing and business development and ensures ongoing personal development and learning;

§  Participates in the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned;

  • Organizes and submits periodic reports to the Supervisor;

Job Responsibility #6: Others

§  Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

A. EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • MA/MBA/BA Degree in Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Management or related field.

B. EXPERIENCE:

§  5/7 years of relevant work experience.

C) TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

  • Proficiency in English language;
  • Good knowledge of participatory methodologies and skills in communications;
  • Computer literacy and demonstrated report writing skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies;
  • Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team;
  • Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of rectitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications;
  • Proven outstanding talent in marketing in the financial sector, ideally in services to the under-banked;
  • Good knowledge in economic topics.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS AND LEVEL OF TRAVEL REQUIRED
  • Office environment:  typical office based 60% and field 40%
