About the Job

The main purpose of the Position

  • Execute, according to hygienic standards, housekeeping, cleaning and tiding up activities in order to ensure public and staff private areas are in good condition.

Accountabilities

  • Clean bedrooms, make the beds, bathrooms, toilets and other rooms in MSF houses. 
  • Do the laundry iron clothes and other housekeeping activities. 
  • Support the cook (washing up, cleaning the kitchen, etc.). 
  • Sweep and mop the floors. 
  • Restock supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.) as required. 
  • Upon arrival, prepare hot water for tea/coffee and refill drinking water. 
  • Ensure that the toilets are well-stocked with essential items, including toilet paper, soap, and other personal hygiene essentials.
  • Check that the water supply (kitchen, showers, etc.) is sufficient during water cuts. 
  • Keep premises properly locked (doors, windows).

MSF Section/Context specific Accountabilities 

  • Assure general cleanliness and hygiene of the entire facility according to MSF standards on a daily including bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms and corridors. 
  • Empty dust bins in all rooms
  • Ensure changing of bed sheets and towels on a timely basis 
  • Washing clothes in a responsible manner such that bleaching and mixing color clothes should be taken care. 
  • Look after all equipment’s provided 
  • Ensure that the log base/HR Assistant is informed of any problems that might be linked to housing as well as problematic equipment or material. (Eg. Broken, missing).
  • Keep an inventory of the house equipment and report items missing or needing repair to log base/HR Assistant on time.
  • Ensure that no material is taken out of the house/kitchen without prior authorization.
  • Ensure that all supplies related to cooking/cleaning work are restocked on time. 
  • Perform other tasks or activities assigned by the supervisor. 

 

 

About You

  • Education: Minimum Grade 10 complete
  • Language: Basic English communication skill is mandatory
  • Experience:  1-2 years in a housekeeping position     Desirable: MSF experience or other NGOS
