Project Objective:

On behalf of the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, KOIS is currently structuring a Development Impact Bond (DIB) to finance the deployment of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) interventions in Ethiopia to empower women and girls and improve their place in society.

To influence norms surrounding menstruation and substantively impact behaviors, AFD aims to implement a comprehensive program that targets school-age girls, their environs, and their communities. The comprehensive MHM intervention aims to improve awareness, access to products, and sanitary infrastructure among school-age girls and members of their communities in the administrative town of Adama, Oromia region. Its objective is the promotion of gender equality by encouraging the adoption of MHM practices and the change of beliefs related to menstruation, to empower women and girls and improve their place in society.

Position Description:

SI is seeking in-country coordinator for the Ethiopia MHM Impact Evaluation. The ICC will work closely with the data collection subcontractors to ensure the quality of data collection throughout the evaluation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares training manual for household survey.
  • Ensures the data collection subcontractor has recruited and hired qualified personnel for managing and conducting the data collection.
  • Works closely with the data collection subcontractor to plan and manage the data collection; ensuring that the organizational structure of the data collection subcontractor will be sufficient to manage and implement data collection according to protocol.
  • Provides in-country support with logistics, research permissions, and other related tasks as needed.
  • Directly coordinate with the Team Lead and the Project Manager for regular status update on training, piloting and other data collection related activities.
  • The In-country coordinator will also lead the collection of secondary data from the national statistical offices and other sources as needed.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in a social science discipline.
  • Seven to ten years of experience managing the logistics of large-scale survey field work in developing countries, preferably involving menstrual health and hygiene or related health projects.
  • Experience training, and overseeing field supervisors and enumerators.
  • Experience coordinating field logistics, schedules, and equipment.
