Summary of Major Duties & Responsibilities

The Country Representative of ECF Children’s Fund directly reporting to the Founder of ECF Children’s Fund is responsible to Plan, Organize, direct, coordinate and control the overall activities of ECF Children’s Fund in Ethiopia as per the general directives and guidelines given to him from time to time by the founder and the Board, the Charities and Civil Societies Law and other appropriate directives and regulations of Ethiopia. As a chief executive, represent ECF in Ethiopia and Maintain adequate communication with ECF Head Office and all relevant authorities and stakeholders in the locality, state and country.

 Description of Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Country Representative of ECF directly reporting to the Board of Directors   is responsible to Plan, Organize, direct, coordinate and control the overall activities of ECF as per the general directives and guidelines given to him from time to time by the Founder, Board, the New Charities and Civil Societies Law and other Laws and regulations of Ethiopia.
  •  Prepare and present to the founder and concerned stakeholders long term strategic plan, budget, periodical work programs and performance reports of ECF Children’s Fund.
  •  Identify program partners to work together for the smooth and better accomplishment of desired objectives. Recruit, assign, develop and administer professionals and trained staff as per the approved organizational structure, staffing plan for the smooth running of organizational activities.
  •  Oversee the Aleltu project, manage and administer the Addis Ababa Bureau.
  • Take responsibility for the strategic and operational planning of ECF village project, and manage the implementation process.
  •  Ensure there are functional systems, policies, control and administrative process in place across ECF village (to be kept simple and cost effective).
  •  Consult and maintain communication with ECF village advisory Board in Ethiopia.
  •  Undertake fundraising in Ethiopia, including development and maintenance of relations with potential donors and partners and developments of fund raising proposals.
  •  Network and collaborate with other NGO’S in Ethiopia to ensure awareness of trends, opportunities and potential issues.
  • Take overall responsibility for the finances of ECF and ensure accountability and monthly reporting (Financial, operational and strategic form the various units in Ethiopia, and consolidated monthly reporting to head office).
  • Interact and facilitate visits of ECF board members, donors, volunteers and other guests/potential donors.
  • Identify and report any material risk and significant event on quarterly basis.
  • Identify program partners to work together for better accomplishment of desired objectives.
  •  Conduct prefeasibility and feasibility studies as required from time to time establishing and running appropriate income generating projects.
  • Follows up the smooth education, skill training, health and nutrition, child care & support programs, agricultural income generating activities, financial, human resource, property management and administration activities.
  • Represents ECF and enters in to agreement with third parties as per appropriate regulations and directives.
  • Follow-up and ensure that all organizational policies, procedures and practices are properly implemented for the attainment of expected and planned results.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of relevant government policies and laws in relation to NGO activities and development interventions in Ethiopia including labor laws, environmental and ecological up keeping practices.
  • Open, operate and control ECF bank accounts in Ethiopia and ensure that proper financial and treasury management system is implemented.
  • Develop, run and implement strategic manpower development programs for sustainable growth and performance improvement of all areas of   ECF activities.
  •  Establish and run ECF management committee that advises and decides on all company policy, budget and program implementation issues.
  • Create conducive and smooth working relationship between the ECF and all stakeholders including Donors, Federal and Regional governments of Ethiopia and other local and international institutions.
  • Implements the Founder’s and board’s decisions, directives and policies in the ECF.
  • Follow up and ensure the proper procurement, handling and utilization of ECF’s assets, materials and inputs.
  • Establish proper financial & treasury control systems in ECF and ensure availability of working capital for the smooth running of activities.
  • Perform related duties as necessary and required by the Founder and the Board.

Educational background – Masters and above

Experience- 8years and above
