LIFEBOX Lifebox (www.lifebox.org) is a global nonprofit dedicated to improving surgical safety in low and middle-income countries. We are registered in the USA, UK and Ethiopia. Founded in 2011 by the authors of the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist, Lifebox works to ensure that surgical teams around the world have the tools and training needed to provide the safest care possible for their patients. Our work focuses on three core areas of work: anaesthesia safety, reducing surgical site infections, and improving teamwork in the operating room.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

To manage data and data quality around implementation of Lifebox’s safer surgery and anesthesia work globally. Working as part of a program team, and working closely with clinical advisors in implementing quality improvement and research projects, the Data Quality officer will maintain the completeness and quality of data gathered through the Clean Cut programme globally, on a daily basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as a point of contact for any data quality related issues for Lifebox projects
•  Ensure configuration, maintenance, proper functioning and output of the Clean Cut hospital DHIS2 implementation.
•  Back- and front-end support of the Lifebox DHIS2 customization and implementation.
•  Support quality assurance of DHIS2 and other data systems.
•  Customize and add modules, facilities and users to DHIS2 as needed
•  Manage the technical and non-technical documentation of Lifebox’s DHIS2 and other data systems
• Analyze DHIS2 performance, identify challenges and troubleshoot.
• Produce regular reports for each Clean Cut implementation hospital
•  Facilitate training of relevant Lifebox and Clean Cut hospital staff on data access and use in DHIS2 and other data systems
•  Build Lifebox staff capacity in data visualization and data use for decision-making, using DHIS2 and other data systems.
•  Build in-country capacity in DHIS2 configuration, development, and technical support.
• Provide ongoing mentoring and support for Lifebox and Clean Cut hospital technical staff.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

•  5+ years of experience in the development and operations of DHIS2 and/or other eHMIS applications.
• Experience in applying user-centered requirements processes for design.
• Advanced database management skills in DHIS2 with experience in integration of databases and migration of data into DHIS2.
•  Systems analysis, design and implementation experience.
• Experience in server management and data security management.

Desirable

•  Masters in Public Health or other health related fields
•  Experience developing web-based and/or mobile applications, web programming language (e.g. Java, JavaScript), and Unix/Linux system management
