KAKI PLC is an official dealer and assembler of ISUZU in Ethiopia. It is also engaged in different business lines including import, export, metal fabrication, after sales services, and cargo freight transport operations. The company wishes to employ a qualified professional for the Director, Marketing Department position:

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct the processes of planning, and organizing market research, market intelligence, marketing communication, branding and promotional activities with the objective to develop, establish and maintain product and marketing strategies to strengthen the company’s presence in the market and help he company meet its business goals and objectives.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design a comprehensive marketing strategy to create awareness of the company’s business activities.
  • Supervise the department and provide guidance and feedback to other marketing professionals.
  • Produce ideas for promotional events or activities and make sure that such activities are organized and implemented efficiently.
  • Plan and ensure execution of campaigns for corporate promotion, launching of new product lines etc.
  • Oversee research of the general market to keep abreast of trends and competitor’s marketing movements.
  • Build strategic relationship with the external parties such as media, potential clients and the community at large
  • Collaborate with the business team to uncover insights and strategies to develop and implement marketing and branding strategies for new and existing products.
  • Oversee and grow the marketing department to consistently identify market opportunities within the established client base, and manage consistent growth by securing new customers.
  • Identify short-term and long-term scheduling, budget, and resource needs, including the development and management of an annual marketing budget, profit/loss projections, expenditure spending, and other financial considerations.
  • Understand key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends in order to translate results into actionable insights for the marketing team.
  • Spearhead the strategic and tactical execution of marketing campaigns, including design of test/control segmentation, implementation of tests, tracking, results reporting, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Direct/lead conception, development, and implementation of marketing plan and strategies, product concepts, and promotional programs to drive interest and sales.
  • Hold regular meetings with Business units to review products in pipeline, resolve challenges, and present possible solutions.
  • Direct market intelligence, analyze competitors’ strategies and reports the same along with recommendations.
  • Develop effective strategies and programs for marketing, promotion and branding the company products and services.
  • Coordinate market research to determine the sales potential of various locations for the purpose of establishing sales outlets at different places.
  • Coordinate data collection and analyses on customer preferences and factors affecting product demands, and make business-oriented recommendations to the company.
  • Oversee that the advertising and promotional activities including print, online, electronic media, trade fair are properly carried out.
  • Coordinate market research to profile and segment customers, to support market growth strategies, and recommend ways of attracting and retaining customers.
  • Identify target market for sales and recommend devises to expand market share.
  • Assess market conditions in local, regional, national areas and oversea markets to target markets.
  • Seek out and target new customers and new sales opportunities, initiate action plan to approach and secure new business for the company.
  • Participate or delegate representatives at promotional activities and trade fairs, works with media people, advertisers, to promote company products.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisal periodically to evaluate how well employees have completed their duty and to take any needful action accordingly.
  • Prepare performance reports for submission to the Managing Director.

Job Requirements

Required Number           :  1(One)

Qualification                    :  M.A. Degree or Ph.D. Degree in Marketing Management or related field

Work Experience            :  10 years for M.A. Degree or 8 years for Ph.D. Degree in relevant role

Required Competence    :

–          Computer skill, written and oral communication skills, English language proficiency.

–          Networking and conversation ability.

–          Proven experience as Marketing Director

–          Excellent leadership and organizing skills

–          Analytical and creative thinking

–          Up to speed with current and online marketing techniques and best practices

–          Customer-oriented approach with aptitude
