We are currently recruiting for a Research Officer role for the country office.

Reports to:           Finance & Admin Coordinator

Supervisees:       N/A

Duty Station:      Addis Ababa, with frequent field travel

  Job Purpose: 

The Driver and Logistics Assistant is responsible for providing safe and prompt transportation services and logistics support to TLM Ethiopia.

Duties and Responsibilities

Driving:

  • Provide driving service to TLM Ethiopia staffs, visitors and guests in a safe and courteous manner as assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Obey all traffic rules and regulations in the country, and respect driving speed limits always.
  • Keep the vehicle clean at all-time both interior and exterior parts and ensure that it is properly handled and kept in good condition.
  • Conform daily morning assessments of road conditions and security situations when in the field or traveling to the field.
  • Always obey organizational policy and operating procedures (use of logbook, no drinking and driving, seatbelts, etc)
  • Record all movements done in the logbook.
  • Carry out daily checks before starting up the vehicle engine; monitor the fuel, other fluids consumption, and tyres’ pressure and ensure they remain within the acceptable level before any movement and take remedial actions when necessary.

Logistics Support:

  • Ensure that all TLM Ethiopia vehicles have current licenses, inspections, insurance, etc. appropriate to their use and in compliance with local laws.
  • Support TLM Ethiopia on procurement, logistics and fleet management related activities; and delivering and receiving messages to & from the organization.
  • Arrange delivery of consignments on organizational vehicles
  • Ensure loading, unloading, packing and transferring of materials are done on the vehicle as requested.
  • Manage vehicle maintenance schedules and records.
  • Assist in document filing and field travel request preparations
  • Prepare and submit vehicles movement reports including mileage and fuel consumption.
  • Ensure that accidents are reported timely to police and insurer and appropriate steps and reporting regulations are followed.
  • Performs any other relevant duties assigned.

About You

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Completion of high school and equivalent (minimum 3rd grade) driving license.
  • Certificate in Auto-mechanics is highly desired.
  • 5 years plus work experience in driving 4WD vehicles including hardtops, station wagons and double-cab pickups
  • Experience in humanitarian sector and field driving is highly preferred
  • Planning and facilitation of transport services.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
  • Knowledge of policy and procedures on insurance, safety and security and safeguarding.
  • Ability to prepare fleet reports.

Competencies

  • Ability to endure under difficult working conditions when necessary.
  • Humble, honest and dedicated
  • Cooperative
  • Basic level of computer skill, especially MS Excel is desired
  • Basic level of communication in English
