World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is an International Humanitarian Christian Organization whose objective is to provide holistic and integrated development and emergency response programs in the country. WVE Central Regional Office has an immediate opening for a person who fulfills the following qualifications.

Purpose of the position:

Under WV Ethiopia EggCitingEconomic Development Officer will be responsible for implementation of project at target weredas (Bosset, and Shashemene ) in Oromiya region  and Amhara Region (Mersa District ).  The position holder Expected to facilitate, guide and lead all Wereda level relationships and interactions with the partners and stakeholders. She/He is expected to manage and engage actively in operationalize Economic development activities in this specific project as per the standard and the given time frame. S/he will work in close engaged with Wereda staffs smoothen the daily operation of WV Ethiopia EggCiting project on Economic development activities and facilitate effectively the Egg BSL/LVCD and market linkages interventions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare complete, accurate and timely AP financial/grant reports and submit to the AP manager, other internal and external stakeholders as per WVE financial manual
  • Facilitate WV Ethiopia Eggciting local Value Chain analysis to identify the potential sub sectors in the woreda and Organized producers/ actors on the identified products to build producer bargaining power.
  • Engage in and provide technical guidance/ training on SG and LVCD Project models to other partners and stakeholders in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of WV Ethiopia Eggciting Project in the operational area
  • Reporting  the overall status of WV Ethiopia Eggciting  project to track progress and ensure quality implementation and supported members to start and diversify micro business activities
  • Help all project Beneficiaries/producers groups & saving group members/ in WV Ethiopia Eggciting  project to flourish well and benefit from market linkage through a well-designed and studied relationship among market actors and accessed financial Products and service at village level
  • Ensure network and liase with Local and Regional Government, NGOs and Business Groups. Identify market development opportunities that present through networks and relationships with other institutions and organizations and NGOs working in the areas of Capacity Development of beneficiaries, Market Access and development, Communicate useful contacts and opportunities on the egg and meet chicken market opportunities and supporting information to region.
  • Supervise and provide TOT training for community agent/ supervisors on the proper implementation of WV Ethiopia Eggciting field guide
  •  Facilitate and support ‘’Coordinate groups’’ and ‘’village Agents’’ in the process  of WV Ethiopia Eggciting Project
  • Compile Monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual plan and report undertaken as required to pace forward to the desired goal and established M& E system to track WV Ethiopia Eggciting intervention progress and ensure quality implementation
  • Work in collaboration with project teams  as well as other TP PM models and units in at most professional manner as deemed necessary
  • Perform and accomplish other assignments assigned by WV Ethiopia Eggciting project staff at HO

Job Requirements

Qualifications Required

    • Qualification: BSc/MSc in Marketing’s, Economics, MBA, Project Management, Development studies and related fields.
    • Experience: 5 years and above for particularly in Economics, marketing, MBA, Project management, Development studies and related tasks.
    • Knowledge of ILaNS TP PM (BSL/LVCD, SG, BF,  MFI,) and coordination and integrations are highly required.
    • Technical training qualifications required: Project management, Economic Development, Livelihood, Marketing and related project interventions.
    • Experience and effectiveness preferably in NGO context in working with community/grassroots people and organizations in sustainable economic development.
    • Thorough understanding and experience in Results-Based Management, staff capacity development, development of community capacity and community-based organizations, linking of professional, academic and community-based learning models.
    • Familiarity with developmental theory, poverty analysis and livelihood security frameworks; Value Chain Development, Making Markets Work for the Poor, Participatory Rural Appraisal/Participatory Learning & Action, Appreciative Inquiry, etc.
    • Technical Training qualifications required:  value chain development approach, marketing, entrepreneurial skill and related income generation activities.
    • Strong understanding of sustainable economic development and the ability to conduct research and studies.
    • Basic computer and Internet skills including Micro soft Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and Graphics presentation  

    ·         Excellent local verbal and written communication skills

Additional Requirements:.

  • Experience in roles in NRM, landscape restoration and/or forestry
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Demonstrated xperience in organizing and facilitating training and capacity building in NRM (experience in FMNR is considered an advantage)
  • Must be a creative individual with strong sense of priorities and organizational skills and an ability to work with diverse teams across considerable distances
  • Must be able to negotiate ideas within and outside the World Vision partnership, particularly with donor communities and government.
  • Optimum level of interpersonal skills to keep up internal and external harmonious working relation
  • Quick learner with ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Excellent ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Federal language/s
  • Proficient computer literacy using of Microsoft Office Microsoft Word, Excel & MS Power Point

Language proficiency:

  • Language Ability to communicate well in English & Local language (Afan Oromo and Amharic) required

Working Environment / Conditions

  • This position requires regular travel between CPO, Wereda offices and Fields
