Content production to meet Partnership requirements

·      Produce digital communications content (text, photographs, video) for funding (private, corporate and grant), positioning, advocacy and reporting purposes ensuring quality and brand alignment. Use WV systems for content delivery and coordination.

·      Provide high quality written/video/photo content to deadline for use with World Vision general donor audiences. Content packages should be child-focused, brand-aligned, highlight need, demonstrate impact and reflect accurately World Vision’s sectoral focus.

·      Ensure content complies with child protection and informed consent protocols and treats subjects with dignity. Deliver content via World Vision content systems.

·      Pitch content ideas to and via appropriate World Vision staff and mechanisms

·      Produce or enable content production that supports grant asset team objectives

·      Support advocacy and campaign work with relevant content and messaging.

·      Contribute to social media and website content, particularly on emergency crisis

·      Ensure www.wvi.org response pages are up to date.

·      Organize the creation of emergency response site on wvrelief and maintain site home page.

·      Coordinate with Information Management to post response content on wvrelief.

·      Edit and review external situation reports and post on wvrelief.

Media engagement, management and coordination

●   Support media positioning efforts in order to highlight humanitarian need (with a focus on children), issues, World Vision expertise, positions, reports, events, global and campaign moments and staff

●   Liaise with SO, GC and other WV entity communications to pursue, prioritize, coordinate, pitch, react to and manage media interviews, opportunities and content

●   Host and coordinate media trips to effectively position World Vision and its work, minimizing reputational damage through careful trip planning, coordination with media ‘home’ country, expectation setting (in a TOR) and briefing. Manage multiple requests for media trips through prioritization and approval process.

●   Write press releases and ensure Q&As, key messages, facts, guidance and messaging are signed off and shared via wvrelief / WV digital asset systems

●   Promptly coordinate media interviews and schedules with spokespeople

●   Promptly deliver signed-off media statements, releases and quotes in response to new and breaking news and post to World Vision’s systems

●   Develop and maintain relationships with key local, national and regional journalists and correspondents, working in coordination with SO and GC communications

VIP hosting (World Vision leaders, celebrities, ambassadors etc.)

●   Liaise with sending office/s to facilitate, arrange and handle VIP itineraries to maximize exposure to humanitarian issues, response staff and programmes. Coordinate with response and sending office to develop TORs, secure approvals (visa, travel, filming and equipment permits, logistics, accommodation, budget etc.)

●   Maximize media coverage of visit, where appropriate

Provide content gathering support for fundraising and media purposes

Job Requirements

  • Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

    Can speak, write, and interpret English, Tigrigna Language into and English

  •    BA/MA degree in Journalism, communications, public relations, English language, literature, political science & international relations or related fields
  •    Five years’ of working experience in communication/public relations/journalism of which two years in the NGOs landscape
  •    Proven experience in story writing/photography/videography
  •    Can speak, write, and interpret Tigrigna Language into Amharic and English and vice versa
  •    Good command of English Language
  •    Proficient computer skills in Adobe Photoshop/InDesign (in addition to basic computer skills)and ability to lean new software package
  •    Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills
  •    Experience in producing different documentation
  •    Problem solving ability and innovation
  •    Perform other duties related to the job as required.
  •    Good organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  •    Demonstrated ability to work independently in own field of specialization
  •    Flexibility to travel as required.
