About the Role

The data officer will ensure data collection and data quality assurance. Additionally, you will translate and code our surveys to Apps, track survey completion status and check the quality of incoming data from the field while communicating progress and findings to the department. You will report directly to MEL Specialist and will manage the data collection team performance, survey execution progress, and communicate progress and challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct survey data Quality Assurance
  • Translate Surveys from English language to Amharic
  • Code surveys to open data kits and testing it for any issues
  • Create user accounts, install App to mobile devices and troubleshoot issues
  • Create data exports
  • Conduct survey field testing
  • Track Team performances
  • Support the survey execution management dashboard creation
  • Communicate survey execution progresses and data quality issue findings
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by the immediate manager to achieve department and organization goals such as collecting sampling lists

Job Requirements

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Knowledge of the CommCare Programming system is preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Computer Science, Demographics, Statistics, or any other related field.
  • At least three years experience with M&E data management and data processing and analysis.
  • Data Experience in data processing
  • Language: English and Amharic
  • Knowledge about data quality dimensions
  • Attention to details
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Knowledge about data quality dimensions

Preferred Start Date

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, start dates can vary significantly by role. We are adapting rapidly to Covid-19 and most of our team is now working remotely. Given the changing environment, we will appreciate your flexibility in confirming a start date.
