About the Role

The Field Manager will be an essential part of our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team in one of One Acre Fund’s fastest growing country programs. The Ethiopia program currently serves 65,000 farmers, grows 6.5 million trees and has a seed multiplication program – by 2025 we aim to serve 600,000 farmers and plant 100 million trees.

The Ethiopia MEL Field Manager will manage a team of data collectors and communicate Key Performance Indicators of survey completion status to data officer. Additionally, you will communicate survey execution progress and challenges to the department. You will report directly to MEL Specialist and will manage the data collection team performance, survey execution progress and communicate progresses and challenges.

Responsibilities

As the Ethiopia MEL Field Supervisor, you will do:

  • Manage Data Collection Field Team
  • Support and conduct the hiring of a team of data collectors
  • Organize trainings for the data collection team
  • Coordinate with the data officer to troubleshoot data collection app issues
  • Work with the data officer to track field KPIs
  • Communicate team performance with team for improvement
  • Field Test Surveys and Manage Survey Execution Logistics
  • Conduct survey field testing for survey content improvement
  • Coordinate with the data officer to arrange survey execution supplies
  • Conduct Data Quality Integrity Checks
  • Conduct backchecks and random respondent check
  • Conduct systematic and frequent field visits
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by the immediate manager to achieve department and organization goals such as collecting sampling lists

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • 2+ years of experience in managing field team
  • 1+ years of experience in data collection and data quality assurance
  • Ability in using MS Excel, experience using Open Data Kits such as CommCare
  • Willing to travel to the field in rural kebeles very frequently using public transportation
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Management or data related field (such as statistics, economics, agricultural economics) is required
  • Language: English and Amharic

Preferred Start Date

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, start dates can vary significantly by role. We are adapting rapidly to Covid-19 and most of our team is now working remotely. Given the changing environment, we will appreciate your flexibility in confirming a start date.
