GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of Shift Engineer, the Fermentation Operator has the duty & responsibility to control, Operate machinery and equipment necessary in the pre-fermentation and Fermentation, including the loading of these products. Testing and monitoring of the entire process running as per standard and take a necessary measure when deviation from the standard is observed.

DESCRIPTION OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures all activities function within the objective to meet and exceed customer needs and expectations;
  • Adheres to and be guided with the collective labor agreement, internal regulations and other relevant statutory instructions and orders;
  • Takes direct responsibility of use, proper handling, control, and protection of company property or any other material at his disposal;
  • Confirm availability of raw material and other inputs in sufficient quantity and required quality (Molasses, Yeast, Nutrients (DAP, Urea, MgSO4,),Biocides (sodium meta-bisulphate, penicillin), sulphuric acid, Anti-foam, Process air, and Process water);
  • Confirm availability and readiness for operation of the Services or utilities (Cooling water, Compressed air, Power, Steam);
  • Check and confirm that all Equipment of fermentation station are ready for operation. This includes checking and confirming that, all equipment are properly placed or mounted in their right positions, all equipment interiors are clean and free of foreign materials, Hygienic and sanitation standards are met for equipment and work area, Safety standards and pre-start requirements are met, All Equipment are tested or commissioned and properly functional, It may also involve checking the operation and calibration of measuring instrumentation units;
  •  Give proper set points for all parameters like level, temperature, flow and also do necessary valve arrangements where it is required;
  •  Operators should register all fermentation parameters timely and correctly in the fermentation log book;
  • Plant operators and helpers should exchange shifts with proper exchange of all information at spot. Shift Workers should not leave work place without handing over to the incoming shift workers or without informing and getting permission from shift Engineer/supervisor;
  • The work area of the fermentation station has to kept always clean, free from scraps and other unnecessary materials;
  • Committed to prevention of environmental pollution and create safe and healthy working condition
  • Performs other related tasks as required.

Job Requirements

Education. Minimum level II TVET graduate in sugar and ethanol,  physio-chemical.

Experience.  5 years

Training     Bio-Ethanol Processing/Alcohol Technology.
