We are offering a project-based assignment as The Project

Within the GIZ Program Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition”, sequa implements the “SME Support Scheme targeting growth orientated SMEs” project in Ethiopia. With this, sequa aims to facilitate business growth and job creation of Ethiopian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by increasing their competitiveness and productivity so that their products and services will satisfy the demand on local and international markets. A specific focus will be provided for women-owned SMEs, job-creation, and employability training for women.

Benefiting companies receive flexible and demand-oriented funding (management consulting, technical training, financial competence / business plan development, qualification, applied research activities, etc.). A special focus will be on advisory services to improve access to finance. The support scheme is expected to contribute to SMEs’ change management and business growth.

The consultancy service will be provided to two garment SMEs: Carmeal garment and Salih Mohammed textile and garment.

Cermeal Garment PLC is an apparel manufacturing company in Nefasilk Lafto sub city, Addis Ababa. The company has built a 5-floor multistorey production center with a 680 sq.m floor area equipped with design, production, embroidery and printing facilities. The company produces a wide range of products, including casual woven shirts, t-shirts, Jackets and boxers and supplies to wholesale distributors in Kolfe and the Merkato market.

Salih Mohammed Textile and Garment is an apparel manufacturing company in Harari regional state. The company has pattern and design, production and embroidery facilities to produce different varieties of value-added woven products and supply them to the local market.

The assignment’s main objective is to enhance productivity and efficiency and implement a new and improved production system for each company.

Your Tasks / Responsibilities

  • Analyse the existing company performance and improve labour productivity and efficiency,
  • Introduce new production improvement systems and techniques,
  • Conduct work study, work measurement, and set targets for the production line,
  • Improve the existing garment production layout and balance the sewing line,
  • Provide training on setting up sewing production layouts for different product styles,
  • Train production operators, supervisors, and production managers on production improvement techniques,
  • Improve fabric utilisation and introduce a fabric reconciliation system,
  • Introduce a production data recording system

 Assignment Period:       14.10.2024 – 28.02.2025

Working time scope:      up to 40 working days

About You

Your Qualification / Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion technology, garment technology, textile engineering, Industrial engineering, or any other related field,
  • Intensive knowledge and skill in productivity and quality improvement tools,
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically,
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Your Working Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in garment production,
  •  Proven experience in working in the garment industry,
  • Experience in providing capacity-building services to garment industries.
