INTERNAL /EXTERNAL VACANCY

About EHRCO Established in 1991, the Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) is the first non-governmental human rights organization working on the promotion and protection of human rights in Ethiopia. EHRCO is free from the influence of political parties, religious institutions, tribal groups, and social classes. It stands for democracy, the rule of law and the respect of human rights. In accordance with “The Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No 1113/2019”, EHRCO was re-registered as an independent and non-profit human rights institution.

Primary Purpose:

Supervise and manage the human rights resource center & the library. Provide services and resources that allow users to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve human right and related problems.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Facilitate suitable environment for readers.
  • Handling the books and other references with care.
  • Provide group instruction and individual guidance to users to help them locate resources centres and library use.
  • Forwarding idea to concerned body to fill the resource center and the library with updated resources or items.
  • Consult members and other users on appropriate use of materials and help them schedule materials for users.
  • Serve as information resource for users of library or human rights resource center materials and provide members and readers development.
  • Effectively plan human right resource center and library program to meet identified needs.
  • Manage acquisitions, processing, organizing, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of resources of resource center and library.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of library and human rights resource center file.
  • Create a library and human rights resource center environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level and interests of students.
  • Compile, budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the library and human rights resource center program and make changes based on the findings.
  • Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, members, and parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Senior Human Rights officer

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • First Degree from accredited college or university in library Science/ Management or related
  • Experience two years experience in library/resource center.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of library science ability to instruct and manage resource centres/library users behaviour strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
