BASIC SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Works under the direction of the Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent and is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Electrical and Instrumentation Department as per listed KPA’s.

Within the limits of the Company Policies, programmes, and control procedures, the Instrumentation Charge Hand is responsible and has commensurate authority to perform the duties set out below, although he may delegate appropriate portions of his responsibilities and authority to members of his department, he may not delegate or relinquish overall responsibility for results, nor any portion of his accountability.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

SYSTEMS

  • Understands complex inter-relationships.
  • Understands system – knows how social, organisational, and technological systems work and operates effectively with them.
  • Monitors and corrects performance – Distinguishes trends, predicts impacts on system operations, diagnose deviation in systems’ performance and corrects malfunctions.
  • Improves or designs systems – suggests modifications to existing systems and develops new or alternative systems to improve performance.
  • Develop and operate a preventive maintenance system that will accommodate the conflicting requirements of minimising lost time and maintaining costs within acceptable levels.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate performance results (breakdowns, manpower productivity, cost etc.) and take prompt action to correct substandard performance,
  • Develop programs and schedules and design standard procedures that will facilitate achievement of the objectives set,
  • (Key Objectives:  To improve on system availability through planned pro-active maintenance)

TECHNOLOGY

  • Works with a variety of technologies
  • Selects technology – chooses procedures, tools, or equipment, including computers and related technologies.
  • Applies technology to task – understands overall intent and proper procedures for set-up and operation of equipment.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment – prevents, identifies, or solves problems with equipment, including computers and other technologies.
  • To change at any workplace with asper company policy and immediate supervisory order and cover the plant from end to end by his professions.
  • Initiate ideas that may lead to enhanced departmental and factory performance and motivate subordinates to act in a similar manner and to accomplish results.
  • Develop and implement programs to increase productivity and to reduce costs (Key Objective:  Lowest cost producer through uninterrupted system performance)

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Instrumentation Charge Hand is directly responsible to the Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent for the efficient fulfilment of his function.  He will always be responsible for the quality of work rendered by his section, follow weekly stand by arrangement and perform to minimize down time.  (Key Objectives:  Reduce unplanned tasks to less than 15 % of the tasks and callouts to be limited to one per week)

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related fields.
  • At least 4 years’ and above experience in electronics, PLC and industry automation on manufacturing industries.
