SNV, Netherlands Development Organization, is a Dutch-based, non for profit foreign charity operating in Ethiopia since the 1970s. Currently, SNV is working in the eight+ regional states of Ethiopia which include– Addis Ababa, Afar, Somali, Gambella, Benishangul, SNNPR, Oromia, Amhara and Tigray regional states, providing technical assistance and program implementation in the major 3 sectors including Agriculture, WASH, and Energy. SNV is an open and learning organization that focuses on improving the lives of Ethiopian Need people through best practices in value chain, market, and youth and gender. Through its work in the three sectors, SNV in Ethiopia supports the development of a number of value chains and commodities to improve the Livelihoods. This takes a value chain and market development approach, with special focus on improving access to sustainable markets for smallholder farmers, youths, urban development and by developing business-to-business relations and improving business development services.

BRIDGE (Building Rural Income through inclusive Dairy business Growth in Ethiopia) is a five year project, implemented in five dairy clusters of the four regions in Ethiopia: Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR and Tigray. The project targets 120,000 dairy farmers and aims at contributing to the impact result “improved dairy sector performance in Ethiopia” through achieving the following outcomes: improved milk production; improved dairy markets (in- and output); improved nutrition and improved enabling environment. Action research activities implemented by WUR team mainly design to give support for BRIDGE implementation by bringing innovations. Thus, an intern in dairy research project assistant is required to play key role in action research initiatives and contribute to the achievement of action research objectives in BRIDGE project.

Qualifications

Education

  • BSc degree in animal sciences, agricultural economics and related fields.

    Professional training and experience in research related activities

Work Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of experience

Terms of Appointment and Contract Type

This is a full-time national position with the successful candidate to be contracted on a 1 years contract with the possibility of renewal.
