Job Description
Farm Africa is an international NGO founded in 1985, with a vision to ensure a prosperous rural Africa. It is a specialist development NGO working with smallholder farmers and forest communities, local governments, and the private sector in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The organization is an expert in the fields of agronomy, livestock, natural resources management, and market engagement. With community engagement underpinning our approach, we design and implement sustainable solutions to rural poverty based on evidence and best practices.
Farm Africa currently wants to invite eligible bidders for the Documenting lessons learnt, achievements and results from the Market System Project, the objective of this assignment is to improve the income and food security status of target HHs by developing a market system that sustainably works for the poor.
Job Requirements
Qualifications of the Consultants
1. Bidders shall submit all the legal documents (renewed Trade License, Registration, TIN, VAT/TOT certificates).
2. Proven track record of conducting similar studies, particularly for NGOs in development projects in the area of agricultural input/output market, agricultural production and Islamic finance, and NRM.
3. Extensive experience in conducting literature reviews and qualitative research including familiarity with participatory research methods.
4. Sound knowledge and acquaintance with Agricultural production and marketing, Islamic finance, and NRM frameworks in Ethiopia.
5. Strong conceptual and methodological understanding of Agricultural production and marketing, Islamic finance, and NRM systems and mechanism.
6. The lead researcher should possess an MSc degree or above in either, Agricultural economics, NRM, Policy and Sustainable Development, and other relevant disciplines. And the team members should have relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience in research in the fields of agriculture, agriculture economics, NRM, and sustainable development. Knowledge and demonstrative experience in Islamic finance/Sharia-compliant financial system/ access creation on Muslim dominant farmer communities will be an added advantage.
7. Demonstrable academic and practical experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
8. Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills.
9. Excellent reporting and presentation skills.
10. Fluency in spoken and written English and knowledge of the local language, Amharic. For a team of consultants, at least half of the team members need to speak the local language, Amharic.
11. Bidders shall clearly state their unit price, number, and total price including VAT/ToT in ETB.
