But every idea might not see the daylight of success without hard work and diligence. 15 years ago, Horra Trading was just an idea in the mind of Mr. Adem Kedir who meticulously worked day and night to turn it into a reality in 2005, basing himself on his extensive  skill  and       knowledge in  coffee   and coffee trade.

Mr. Adem Kedir’s coffee trade career started as the succeeding generation from his grandfather Mr. Abbahawa and his father Mr. Kedir Hadjji Hassan in Ethiopia. As the third generation successor of the family coffee business, Mr. Adem has made the leap from his involvement in traditional and domestic coffee market to international coffee trade by forming his own business entity           by  the name of  Horra  Trading  in  2005.

What was started as a simple trading business entity in 2005, Horra Trading has made it possible to create diversified businesses under Horra Corporate Group. Currently, Horra Corporate Group business portfolio includes coffee and oil seeds export, coffee plantation, automotive assembly, import and distribution, manufacturing, real estate development and transit and forwarding.

Currently, Horra Corporate Group is led by the CEO, Mr. Adm Kedir, and by qualified and experienced professionals, with 500 permanent staff members and 800 temporary workers working in the corporate office and in different business units.

Purpose of the Job

To ensure the smooth operation of the Company by leading the development and implementation of appropriate, cost-effective, secure computer based information systems and technology based service delivery systems.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of information systems strategies, policies and procedures to help the Company achieve its business goals and ensure the security of data and information systems.
  • Monitor the definition, development and communication of Business and technology target architecture, implementation roadmaps and supporting standards that supports the Company business strategy.
  • Lead the design and development of IT solutions and change to the business to support current and future business needs
  • Monitor the appropriate IT solution delivery to business areas.
  • Ensure that the IT function provides stable and quality technology services to the business.
  • Guide and coordinate activities related to selection, acquisition, development and installation of major information systems while managing all information technology vendor relationships.
  • Oversee the design, selection and implementation of Information Technology applications and support infrastructures.
  • Monitor the compliance of the information systems network and infrastructure with internal standards, external accrediting agency standards, regulatory agencies and legal requirements.
  • Liaise with all functions to continuously identify new Information Technology requirements.
  • Provide advice to senior leadership team on matters related to developing the
  • Company’s information system and technological capabilities.

Generic Duties of the Position:

  • Prepare the Function’s work plan and monitor their execution.
  • Develop, approve and monitor the Functions budgets.
  • Identify human resources requirements of the Function and develop plan for meeting the requirements.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the Function and lead in their implementation and continuous review.
  • Review, approve and submit functional reports to relevant organs.
  • Support the development of manager through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, ongoing performance dialogue and feedback.
  • Oversee the systematic identification of skill and competency requirements for the Organization.
  • Manage disciplinary concerns emerged at department level.
  • Represent the function/business unit in external relationships.
  • Take part in departmental decision-making process.
  •  Perform other duties when found necessary

Job Requirements

Job Specification and Qualification

Education Qualification: MSc in Computer Science, Information System or BSc in Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering, Information System or in other related fields.

Work Experience: At least 6 (Six) years of work experience for candidates with MSc credential or at least 8 (Eight) years of work experience for candidates with BSc credential.

  • Experience in overseeing ERP and other solutions is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, database management, system management are required.
  • Good customer and guest handling skill.
  • Good communication skill.
  • Able to perform other administrative tasks when required.
  • Show effective negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • Show problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Be innovative and creative.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrable understanding and application of insurance principles and processes.
  • Fluency in Amharic and English, written and verbal is mandatory
