Position Summary:
A first-year associate is an entry level attorney. Entry-level and first-year associates perform a variety of tasks under heavy supervision and should be familiar with Ethiopia legal concepts and procedures. The role requires a general understanding of the law and transactional commercial advisory services rendered by the Office. The Junior Associate is required to work in the different practice and industry areas along with the other lawyers in the Office.
Specific Responsibilities and Deliverables:
- Conduct extensive legal research on various legal practice areas and industries under the supervision of Senior Associates,
- Represent Clients before various government and other entity engagement to undertake client tasks such as company establishment, renewal of licenses and registration, document authentications and other execution of tasks at such entities,
- Assist in the preparation of client engagement documents such as proposal, response for proposals (RFPs), and engagement letters.
- Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys and support staff;
- Engage in any project or work of any practice area and/or industry as assigned by the Office;
- Working as part of a team and taking an active part in sharing knowledge and experience with the team, and
- Attending internal and external meetings.
Job Requirements
Experience and Qualification
- A qualified lawyer with excellent academics credentials with LLB.
- 0 – 3 years of relevant experience.
- General understanding of legal trends, developments and changes and ability to adapt those changes.
- Excellent research, drafting, communication and writing skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy and strong time management skills.
- Strong relationship management skills.
