Purpose of the Job:

To establish a reliable accounting and reporting system that enhance the financial decision-making process of the Bank by monitoring accurate recording of transactions, timely preparations of financial reports and conducting a close follow-up on the Bank’s compliance with all financial and regulator obligations.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee effective implementation of the Bank’s financial policies and procedures and ensure relevant government regulations are observed by all concerned parties.
  • Update the Bank’s chart of account whenever needed and facilitate opening of general and subsidiary ledger accounts.
  • Monitor the compliance of all the approval processes and procedures of the Bank’s payment obligations with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Review transactions to ensure they are properly recorded and books of accounts are balanced.
  • Authorize records of transactions.
  • Review the correctness and completeness of payment instruments, tickets /vouchers and countersign on them.
  • Supervise timely preparation of payments and ensure that all deductions are made and paid to concerned bodies on time.
  • Check all bank reconciliations are properly and timely prepared.
  • Supervise the investigation and follow up of all outstanding items on bank reconciliation statements with responsible persons and various organization.
  • Monitor timely collection of any income of the Bank.
  • Check proper records of all contract documents such as lease (rent) agreements; professional services and ensure that related obligations are timely fulfilled.
  • Follow up the periodic and proper recording and updating of fixed asset register of the bank.
  • Follow up timely preparation and submission of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly managerial reports.
  • Review reports produced by Officers under his/her supervision and monitor the timely submission of reports to NBE and other regulatory bodies.
  • Facilitate external auditing and follow up the timely completion of the Annual Audit Reports.

Generic Duties of the Position:

  • Develop and implement the Division’s plans and objectives.
  • Develop, approve and monitor the Division’s budgets.
  • Identify human resources requirements of the Division and develop plan for meeting the requirements.
  • Develop, implement and review relevant divisional policies and procedures.
  • Review, approve and submit Divisional reports to relevant organs.
  • Support the development of subordinates through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, ongoing performance dialogue and feedback.
  • Manage disciplinary concerns of the Division’s staff.
  • Represent the Division in internal and external relationships.
  •  Participate in group decision

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience:

Education

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management, Business Administration or related fields

Experience

  • Six (6) years and eight(8) years of relevant banking experience for Masters and Bachelor Of which (3) and (4) years of experience in supervisory positions

Professional Qualification

  • IFB Certification is Advantageous
