We are looking for a WASH Supply Chain Development Manager to drive and enable growth in the WASH market by developing business models and strengthening supply chains that improve the delivery of WASH products and services by growing existing high-potential private enterprises operating in Ethiopia.

Your contribution

  • Oversee market landscaping, including GIS mapping and analysis, throughout the project to identify barriers and opportunities in the existing WASH supply chain and provide recommendations that could potentially strengthen the supply of WASH products and services to low-income consumers, including guidance on distribution, production and sales.
  • Lead the development of sustainable business models that lay out the product offering, distribution channels, pricing and sales models, P&L calculations, and public and private finance partners.
  • Identify, vet, and incubate private sector partners to deliver quality products and services through the development of systems, partnerships, contracts, and other tools to strengthen manufacturing and distribution.
  • Develop agreements and MoUs for business partnerships, foster linkage along the supply chain to enable smooth distribution of products and enhance household access.
  • Assess needs, opportunities, gaps and constraints for accessing finance for suppliers. Establish financing products suitable for business partner needs.
  • Contribute to the development of metrics and establishment of a monitoring and evaluation framework for tracking project progress, specifically tracking supply chain development among private sector partners.
  • Engage with relevant government/local partners to effectively foster coordination and partnerships with private sector manufacturing and distribution partners/stakeholders.
  • Supervise market research, concept and prototype development for new products and services in line with overall project strategy.
  • Review and analyze monitoring level data to improve management and decision-making and to adapt and optimize business models under implementation.
  • Oversee private sector (particularly manufacturing) partnerships, market assessments, and guidance on governance issues to facilitate new product entry.
  • Provide regular, concise reporting on program activities, including document and sharing key learning on the potential to scale identified business models with a private sector perspective.

Generic Duties of the Position:

  • Develop and implement annual objectives and plans.
  • Monitor and ensure the proper utilization of allocated departmental budget.
  • Support the development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and on-going feedback.
  • Represent the Organization in external relationships related to the Department.
  • Participate in group decision-making processes by forming part of different groups/committees.

Job Requirements

What are we looking for? The basics

  • Master’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related fields with six (6) years of demonstrated experience out of which four (4) years is at managerial or technical advisor level

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related fields with eight (8) years of demonstrated experience out of which four (4) years is at a managerial or technical advisor level

What would get us excited?

  • Demonstrated experience in relevant areas such as business management, private sector delivery of water and sanitation services, sales and marketing, supply chain strengthening, social entrepreneurship
  • Experience providing business development support as well as suppliers and purchasing in the sanitation, hardware, or construction industry; and/or design and implementation of sales and marketing programs
  • Proficient in English and Amharic languages, both written and verbal communication
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout Ethiopia
