Currently, Ethiopia is set to have a comprehensive national dialogue which is expected to convene to address a broad set of issues. As part of this effort to build national consensus, Ethiopia ratified the proclamation for the establishment of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, Proclamation No. 1265/2021. Considering the positive roles CSOs can play to ensure women’s representation in the Ethiopian national dialogue, variety of CSOs has established a coalition by the name “Coalition for Women’s Voice in the National Dialogue” aimed at promoting gender inclusivity in every stage of the national dialogue process.

The Coalition for Women’s Voice in the National Dialogue was established on 16 March 2022 with the aim to ensure women’s meaningful representation in the forthcoming Ethiopian National Dialogue process and to ensure that the process responds to and addresses Ethiopian women’s needs, perspectives, priorities, and aspirations. With over 45 member civil society organizations, the Coalition operates with seven steering committee members and a secretariat, i.e., TIMRAN. The Coalition finds it necessary to form an independent national dialogue team to look after the Coalition’s activities since it has an exclusive mission to work towards gender inclusive national dialogue. The team will be accountable to the Secretariat of the Coalition.

Duties and Responsibilities

More precisely, the M&E Officer will:

  • Demonstrate integrity by modelling the UN’s values and ethical standards
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities of the coalition.
  • Monitor the gender inclusiveness of the National Dialogue Commission’s activity
  • Promotes the vision, mission, and strategic goals of the Coalition
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
  • Organizes and accurately completes multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking into consideration special assignments, frequent interruptions, deadlines, available resources and multiple reporting relationships
  • Plans, coordinates and organizes workload while remaining aware of changing Priorities and competing deadlines
  • Establishes, builds and maintains effective working relationships with staff and clients to facilitate the provision of support
  • In-depth knowledge on MIS, M&E and development issues
  • Excellent knowledge of monitoring and the application of methodology: Good understanding of capacity assessment methodologies; excellent ability to identify significant capacity building opportunities;
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral): Sensitivity to and responsiveness to all partners, Respectful and helpful relations with donors and project staff.
  • Ability to lead implementation of new systems (business side), and affect staff behavioral/ attitudinal change
  • Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude
  • Perform other related tasks.

Employment Type: Contract (1 year, with possibility of extension)

Qualifications

Education

  •  University Degree preferably in Business Administration, Economics or related field.

Experience

  •  At least 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of MEL of projects in national/international NGOs/UN bodies/ Government;
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports;
  • Proven ICT skills, especially in the development of MIS software using database software;
    Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software;
  • Remains calm, in control and good humored even under pressure
  • Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities
  • Responds positively to critical feedback and differing points of view
  • Solicits feedback from staff about the impact of his/her own behavior
