Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops department strategic, medium and short term plans and budgets and submit for approval to the General Manager
  • Ensures the approved plans are communicated, understood and implemented within the company;
  • Develop various policies that are appropriate to the purpose of the company (department) and ensures they are communicated, implemented and maintained within the organization;
  • Ensures relevant management and operational systems are developed and implemented and reviews their suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness.
  • Conducts and supervises the activities of sales with particular emphasis on pushing Sales, market share and customer satisfaction in collaboration with Marketing Department.
  • Conducts environmental scanning on economic, legal, political, and socio cultural factors affecting the company.
  • Formulates Sales strategies whereby to enhance market share of the company.
  • Launches sustainable economic sales promotion activities including event coordination.
  • Establishes customer satisfaction strategies to retain the existing customers and attract new ones on periodical bases.
  • Follow up, supervise and motivate employees assigned under the department to achieve the desired goals.
  • Plans and implements sales and customer retention and development both in Addis and Upcountry.
  • Plans and manages sales resources according to agreed budget.
  • Recruits, manages, trains, motivates and directs reporting staff according to company procedures and policy.
  • Plans and manages internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, aims and activities.
  • Manages relevant reporting of management and financial information for the Commercial Departments.
  • Ensures that the planned market share and profitability of products are attained.
  • Identifies potential new customers within the country, manages sales negotiations with the customers and develops profitable new business.
  • Monitors and analyze own sales performance data and takes appropriate action.
  • Develops and executes sales plans and programs, as per the Company’s policies and procedures, to contribute to the growth of profit and market share and expansion of the Company’s activities.
  • Establishes annual forecast of sales volumes, revenue and capital expenditure budget to be able to control activities of the company.
  • Exercises effective cost control by reviewing and investigating variances between actual and plan as well as prior period performance and by taking actions required.
  • Manages staff of the Sales Department effectively through proper supervision, training & development as well as appraisal of performances and awarding meritorious staff.
  • Visits and socializes with consumers and dealers to strengthen existing relationships.
  • Prepares plans and implementing budget required for the unit yearly.
  • Establishes systems for finished goods store management and ensures implementation of the same.
  • Ensures the existence of modern product distribution channels.
  • Keeps record for employee’s performance for the given period of time measures them as per the guideline.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse and fleet management for operational as well as supporting tasks.
  • Perform other activities as required by immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

Knowledges and Experience Required

Education  (formal education)

  • Min: MBA/MA or BA Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Economics or equivalent.

Training (on the job training, should the present incumbent leave)

  • Familiarity with special software such as ERP etc.

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least Eight years as in Senior Sales management position, four years in managerial position.  Experience in FMSG business is preferable.

  • Good leadership skill.
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skill
  • Good knowledge of sales and marketing principles and practices
  • Good knowledge of trends and developments in the field
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain good working relationship and keep records up-to-date
  • Skill in the use of computers
  • Good business acumen with extensive knowledge of contract law;
  • extensive experience in commercial negotiations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
