The African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) is a Pan-African professional body working to advocate for the critical role and needs of laboratory medicine and networks throughout Africa. Africa is rapidly growing but faces major health challenges including epidemics of HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria, and new priorities such as Ebola and other global health security threats. Strengthened laboratory capacity and surveillance in Africa are critical to overcoming the burden of disease and ensuring a healthy future for the continent. ASLM addresses these challenges by working collaboratively with governments, local and international organizations, implementing partners, and the private sector.
Summary of the position
ASLM is currently looking to recruit and hire an Office help and cleaner to work in the Head quarter office, to take care of all office cleaning and running errands in relation to procurement of office supplies.
Duty station: HQ- Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Nature of the position: Full time/ Regular
Duration: Yearly. Renewed depending on the availability of funds
Reports to: HR Officer
Specific duties:
- Cleaning furniture, the floor and the Kitchen of the office.
- Dispose the dirt on a given place in a manner that will not harm the environment.
- Finish the cleaning action before the official start of the working time.
- Clean the kitchen and the utensils in a continuous manner throughout the day.
- Prepare refreshments for staff and guests of the office and serve as requested.
- Procurement and record of refreshment supplies and cleaning materials.
- Office supplies stock tracking and timely replenishment.
- Assist in the copying, binding and scanning of documents as requested by the staff.
- Perform other cleaning work and to do other relative works which are given by the supervisor.

- Must be a mature, respectful and honest person of high integrity that is able to work in a team and make meaningful contributions to the organization objective.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to abrupt changes assignment at short notices.
- Must be physically fit, healthy, sober, neat and presentable.
- Basic knowledge and skill in minor reading & writing.
- Good verbal communication in the English language.
- Should be quick in understanding, keen in taking instructions, and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Dress code as per the organization requirement.
- Should be willing, ready and able to perform other duties as delegated to him/her by the immediate supervisor.
- Excellent in time management.
- Excellent in allocated resource management
Academic qualifications, Knowledge and Technical Skills:
- At the minimum secondary school education completion is required.
- Should have a minimum of Two (2) years related experience.
- Flexibility and ability to stand by the job requirement in for others when required to do so is necessary.
- Good inter-personal, communication (English and Amharic reading and spoken) preferred.
