Organization Background:

HUNDEE – Oromo Grassroots Development Initiative is a local non-partisan, not-for profit and secular charity organization established in April 1995. HUNDEE broadly envisions seeing a just world where women, men, boys and girls live in dignity and prosperity. To this end, it has been promoting various projects being developed in the areas of development and community education interventions. It has secured funding support from USAID/PEPFAR for the implementation of a project that seeks to deliver family-focused HIV prevention, testing, care services and interventions for vulnerable children in Shashamane, Goba, Bule-Hora, Nagelle-Borena, Adola, Shakiso, Odo-Shakiso and Yabello towns in Oromia National Regional State. The Main purpose of this project is to strengthen local HIV epidemic control so that 95% of individuals living with HIV know their status, 95% of persons living with HIV initiate antiretroviral therapy and 95% of clients on antiretroviral therapy achieve their viral load suppression. Here, our organization seeks to hire competent and qualified candidates who fulfill the following criteria of the position.

Terms of Employment: One year contract, with possibility of renewal depending on merit and job continuity

Job Summary:

Under the direction and close supervision of HIV Prevention, Care & Treatment Service Project Coordinator, the OVC Service Specialist is primarily responsible to:

  • Lead project planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of case achievements, goals and benchmarks for target OVC and their families,
  • Ensure identification, assessment/reassessment, case plan development and updating, case plan implementation, monitoring and closure that adhere to established quality standards and procedures,
  • Provide psycho-social support, child protection, legal support, nutrition, economic strengthening services within the case plan achievement benchmarks,
  • Provide technical guidance, and supportive supervision to project staff,
  • Engage in technical assistance and capacity strengthening activities in OVC for staff and implementing partner organizations to enhance program quality and impact,
  • Oversee the identification, assessment and strengthening of partnerships relevant to OVC,
  • Prepare and submit regular and timely performance reports to the Project Coordination Office adhering to USAID reporting requirements and
  •  Undertake other related activities as instructed by his/her immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

Required Education and Qualification:

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Officer or Nursing from recognized universities or colleges.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of  6/8 years proven work experience respectively, of which 2/4 years in OVC response roles preferably in NGO.

Skill and Personal qualities:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and report writing skills, technical competence and ability to work in harmony with co-worker;
  •  Proven knowledge of working with Microsoft packages (ability to prepare various reports using Excel, Microsoft Offices, PowerPoint and etc)

Language Ability:

  • Proficiency in Afaan Oromo, Amharic and English languages is mandatory
