Nunhems Ethiopia PLC is now recruiting qualified and result oriented Quality, Health and Safety Officer for our state-of-the-art high-tech seed production farm located at Minjar Shenkora Woreda – Arerti for the following position:

Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Officer   – Arerti Farm

The QHSE Officer develops, implements and manages all HSE processes and activities concerning safety, health and environmental aspects on local level for the Nunhems Ethiopia PLC sites in Ethiopia. The QHSE Officer acts in partnership and alignment with the Regional BASF HSE organization. Further more the QHSE Officer is in charged of developing and implementing Quality Systems that will safeguard the quality of the products we produce and export.

Your responsibilities:

• Developing, implementing and managing local HSE policies, guidelines and procedures;
• Increasing safety awareness within the local organization;
• Support of the Regional HSE Manager with implementing BASF HSE guidelines and legal obligations;
• Support the local departments with implementing HSE policies and guidelines;
• Support the local departments with performing risk assessments and executing of improvements;
• Within the specified boundaries act as the HSE contact person for the Ethiopia sites;
• Leading the HSE committee, HSE communities and Prevention employee team;
• Take care of BASF HSE reporting;
• Performing local audits and support of external audits;
• Give trainings, workshops and toolbox meetings;
• Perform incident investigations;
• Developing, implementing and managing Quality Systems and Procedures to safeguard quality of the products;
• Develop and perform quality tests on the products ready for export;
• Preparing monthly, weekly and daily reports to the management

Your qualities:

• Holding at least a Bachelor Degree is a must, preferred completed certification of Occupational Health and Safety;
• At least 3 years of work experience in a relevant HSE function, preferably in a production environment;
• Proven HSE Experience and practical knowledge of HSE related processes;
• Strong command of the Amharic and English language, both verbal and written.
• Good communication skills, able to communicate on different levels within the organization;
• Possessing excellent coordination and communication skills. Good listening and motivational skills;
• Affinity with the agriculture work field is big plus
• Knowledge of relevant legislation;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
