Job Requirements

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the factory on a full-time basis. This position reports directly to the Quality Manager, which will work with the Plant Manager & COO to implement the factory’s standard operating procedures and food safety standards. The position is flexible in working night shifts and overtime shifts.

RESPONSIBILITY

Accountable to the Quality Manager of the company, the Quality Supervisor’s responsibilities are:

o   Supervise and validate the safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation

o   Supervise the quality control of raw material, packaging, and product

o   Supervise and validate quality control points in the operation of the factory

o   Manage the microbiological analysis of raw material and product

o   Carry out continuous sampling and investigation for microbes in the facility

o   Manage the physical and chemical analysis of the raw material and product

o   Properly manage laboratory equipment

o   Follow-up and communicate with external laboratories for sample analysis

o   Support in the purchase and handling of facility chemicals and lab equipment

o   Design and implement best practices so that workers achieve consistent production and product quality to match and exceed customer specifications

o   Act as the facility’s health and safety supervisor

o   Identify and report unsafe operations to the manager immediately

o   Monitor the production equipment to make sure that it stays in good working order, and to notify when there needs to be a repair or replace the equipment when needed.

o   Wear and validate wearing by workers of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

o   Proper utilization of safety equipment and uniforms.

o   Effectively supervise the practice the food safety policy of the company (FSSC) by performing good manufacturing practice (GMP) and good hygienic practice (GHP) in the company

o   Quality assurance /food safety management of products and processes in compliance with ISO 22000:2005, IS0 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007, HACCP & BRC/IFS certifications and best practices

o   Supervises operation, maintenance, repair and installation. Of machinery according to the standard operation procedures

o   Ensures the logging, recording, and reporting of data in accordance with operating procedures, operating licenses, provincial legislation and regulations

o   Do training employees in areas such as operations, maintenance, repairs, construction, safety and operation of tools and equipment

o   Preparation of Safety Work Procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

o   Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or equivalent field

o   5+ years of experience working as laboratory manger, supervisor or research, preferably within a food manufacturing environment

o   Knowledge and certification of food safety procedures and standards such as ISSO, HAACP (as stated above) and/or others

o   Experience working in similar factories would be favored

o   Excellent English communication skills; both verbal and written

o   Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

o   Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, and internet communication

o   Team concept management style (employee empowerment and engagement)

o   Excellent time management and organizational skills

o   Ability to measure and monitor production processes to create efficiency- reduce cost, waste, and downtime; eliminate material consumption variances

o   Develop, coach, train, and mentor personnel across all levels

o   Ability to analyze and formulate process flows, identify root cause process breakdowns, and implement process changes, improvements, and corrective actions

o   Develop goals and objectives; monitor and measure with key performance indicators

o   Strong leadership skills- providing clear expectations and responsibilities
