The Opportunity
The Security Coordinator is responsible to assist the Security Manager – Ethiopia to promote and support the success and safety of, staff, and facilities. This position will also help develop and maintain security and evacuation plans, assist with the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures in line with the security manager. Safety and Security Coordinator regularly train national and international staff on security measures and risk reduction mechanisms. The Security Coordinator will occasionally make site visits to program areas to evaluate safety and security situation on the ground especially in location where security concerns is high and produce written reports on such visits. This position will also help facilitate the community acceptance model of security in project area communities.
Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
About You
- Degree in any field of study or at least 5 years of relevant experience in Safety and Security Management. At least three-year relevant experience, preferably in INGO
- Military or police background is Advantageous
- Knowlrdge of local security rules, regulations and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively and authoritatively on area of expertise.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships across a network.
- Ability to influence without Authority
