Micro Mentor is an initiative of Mercy Corps’ Innovations Team. At Micro Mentor, our mission is to leverage the power of mentoring to help small businesses thrive. We do so by offering entrepreneurs direct access to a pool of committed professional volunteer mentors via an easy-to-use online community. Micro Mentor has an expanding community making 10,000 mentoring connections every year. Entrepreneurs matched with a mentor have shown significant results in terms of improved job creation, business survival, and revenue growth.

Micro Mentor launched in Ethiopia in 2021 to support strivers (microenterprises with growth potential) by providing them with access to critical resources, networks and skills to help 27,500 entrepreneurs and 6800 mentors during 3 years in the Somali regions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The program is looking for a content marketing officer, who is able to lead, design and manage all aspects of content creation at MicroMentor for Ethiopia Somali region.  The ideal content marketing senior officer  needs a combination of writing, storytelling and strategizing skills in order to create and manage marketing projects that resonate with an audience, with the final objective of increasing user acquisition in the region.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  •  Designing a content strategy for MicroMentor Somali region
  • Collaborating with the Marketing team to produce high quality content.
  • Coordinate all MicroMentor Somali region marketing activities with a primary focus on digital and media broadcasting outreach
  • Lead the execution of user engagement and outreach campaign in the Somali region with a focus on project operational areas
  • Review and provide feedback on FB and IG ads report.
  • Writing, editing or refining digital copy.
  •  Delivering strong, engaging content to users.
  • Revising and optimizing dated content using information gathered in SEO research
  • Analyzing web metrics to provide feedback for MicroMentor products, and increase efficiency in the campaigns.
  • Sharing content on social media and via email to boost brand awareness and engage with the audience.
  • Respond to users’ inquiries on MicroMentor social media.
  • Maintain a comprehensive set of records of the activities and events.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with operations departments in Mercy Corps to track and log requests and ensure processes for procurement and operations are completed on time and with proper documentation as per the needs and the requests of the program;
  • Prepare timely (monthly and quarterly) progress report
  • Collaborate with government and private sector partners for potential MicroMentor outreach in all RiPA and STEDE project locations and beyond as potential partnership opportunities arise
  • Lead the translation of all English language contents to Somali language for social media advertisements and media broadcasting  and ensure quality of Somali language  media broadcasting
  • Support managing the filing system for the program, by organizing and maintaining records for physical and digital documents;
  • Contribute to ensuring that all programming follows Mercy Corps’ internal systems and procedures and that paperwork is completed and properly filed;
  • Participate and assist in the organization and logistics related to workshops and tasks force activities, as needed, to inform strategy development and improved service delivery;
  • Support in the fulfillment of Mercy Corps Program Management Minimum Standards based on the organization-wide guide;
  • Participate in internal office coordination and planning meetings and workshops;
  •  Conduct both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission;
  •  Ensure activities promote gender equity, conflict sensitivity, and environmental awareness by applying Do No Harm and Mercy Corps’ Gender Equity policy;
  •  Response to any translation tasks requested by the HQ
  • Other assigned tasks, as necessary.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  •   BA or BS or equivalent in Marketing
  •  3-5 years of experience as a copywriter.
  •  Proven experience crafting and implementing engaging creative concepts across major social media platforms. (FB, IG, TW, Pinterest, etc.)
  •  Proven experience running fb/instagram ads.
  • Experience in content creation formats (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Adobe Creative Suite & design templates in Canva or Google docs, sheets, slides, IG, FB live, etc.)
  • Consistently up to date with trends & culture while growing personal copy skills/craft
  • Passion for marketing and are eager to make content that creates engagement
  •   Good understanding of industry best practices on all digital platforms
  •  Passion for entrepreneurship
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and  Somali language Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members
