EthSwitch is the National Payment Switch owned by all banks (private and public) operating in Ethiopia and the National Bank of Ethiopia. EthSwitch has been established mainly to develop & institute Domestic Payment Scheme, Create Interoperability between financial and payment service providers, and provide Shared Infrastructure/ Platforms to Financial Institutes. The primary purpose of the role
The Senior Database Administration Officer is responsible for the management of the Company’s database architecture to ensure secure access and availability following the needs of the business.
He/ She will be responsible for maintaining the company’s database systems (currently Oracle 11 g) including back-up, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring critical events and documentation. Oracle database hands-on experience is highly desired.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the company’s database technology and associated schemas to allow secure, efficient and effective access to the Company’s structured data.
- Monitor, maintain database systems and troubleshoot problems that may arise.
- Review and revise practices and processes to enhance the efficiency of access for Clients/customers
- Ensure effective access to data and information assets whilst maintaining the requirements of security, privacy and confidentiality
- Plan and implement regular system upgrades to enhance service continuity
- Escalate unresolved system issues to appropriate manager, vendors and manage to minimize user/system downtime
- Provide expert data management advice to guide the development of information management practices
- Encourage the team to work collaboratively to contribute to achieving the team’s business outcomes
- Provide advanced support to minimize system downtime, manage expectations, resolve and provide solutions to issues
- Certification is an advantage
Job Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related fields of stud
- 5/3 years of relevant work experience
