Organizational and Program highlights

Integrated Service on Health and Development Organization (ISHDO) is registered non-governmental organization. ISHDO is funded by USAID as prime under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to implement a three years Family-focused HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment activity in Oromia Region. The Activity will be implemented in partnership with other sub local implementing partners. The activity aims to accelerate and sustain HIV epidemic control in Ethiopia through the delivery of high impact Family-focused HIV prevention, care, and Treatment Activity in selected 41. woredas of Oromia regional state. This award is to strengthen local HIV epidemic control to achieve the goal of 95 percent of individuals living with HIV know their status, 95 percent of persons living with HIV initiated antiretroviral therapy and 95 percent of on antiretroviral therapy achieve viral load suppression by 2030. HIV mitigation services for vulnerable children will focus on case finding and linkage to HIV treatment among undiagnosed children living with HIV, on achieving better health outcomes through HIV viral load suppression and establishing interpersonal, family and community norms to achieve HIV and violence prevention (9 to 14-year-old children).

Reports to : Admin and finance head

Job detail responsibilities : 

  • Review all the documents submitted by staffs to settle their advances make sure all the documents are genuine.
  • Ensure that all costs and travels have adequate prior authorization and approval.
  • Process travel advances to project staff and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Verify, allocate, post, update and reconcile all financial transactions.
  • Make sure that all the expenses are included in the system accordingly and reviewing the payment being checked approved and backed with all the necessary documentation.
  • Ensuring all the reporting requirements from the project sides are satisfied.
  • Prepare monthly payroll for review, and deposit payroll related taxes to appropriate government entity on a timely basis.
  • Make sure that all government taxes & other obligations are deducted & paid on time.
  • Coordinate requests for VAT reimbursement with USAID per the established procedure and follow up the reimbursement.
  • Prepare outstanding advance report to be reviewed by Supervisor
  • Assist Finance and Admin during the reporting.
  • Providing assistance in supervising Finance Officer and Cashier.
  • Ensuring compliance with all donor and home office procedures.
  • Implement systems and ensure proper checks and balances to mitigate potential for fraud or improper use of funds.
  •  Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Required education and experiences

  • MA / BA degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a relevant field
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance for donor-funded projects, preferably USAID
  • Knowledge and understanding of USAID and host government rules and regulations
  • Experience in NGOs setting
  • Very good computer and Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and accounting software (Peachtree, QuickBooks. Microsoft excel).
  • Ability to work under pressure and efficiently handle multiple tasks with attention to detail and quality.is required.
  •  Ability to work under own initiative or as a part of a team is required.

  • Ability to work and deliver in teams
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Amharic and local language knowledge of Afan Oromo is an advantage
