Job Description 

CEHRO is looking for a Project Coordinator, who will be responsible for managing and follow-up the day-to-day management of project transactions and procedures, with a demonstrated in-depth knowledge of program/project policies, procedures, and systems with excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.

Job Description

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of CEHRO’s projects and interventions. The individual must be able to work independently and will have strong administrative and project management skills to support the activities of CEHRO’s Program department, as well as the delivery of projects by its members. Knowledge of human rights law or advocacy is highly desirable since the successful applicant may use and rely on that knowledge to further CEHRO’s mission and build on its expanding body of work. Experience in fundraising is essential since the role involves relationship-building and applications with present and potential funders. The Project officer must have strong communication skills, team-player who can also work independently as well as professional interpersonal skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Ensure overall operational management of the projects and delivery of results in accordance with the project agreements and work plans
  • Ensure the implementation of the project activities as set out in the project document, work plans, and other related documents
  • Prepare, and review annual, quarterly, and monthly reports according to the need of projects& evaluations
  • Ensure the proper communication of project results through CEHRO communication channels;
  • Ensure compliance with respective donor’s project management policies and procedures;
  • Plan, organize and facilitate workshops, training, and prepare proceedings
  • Assist the Program officers in planning and coordination of programs and their activities
  • Ensure project implementations activities are in line with the available budgetary resources and annual plan.
  • Work to keep projects on schedule, within stated budgets, and functioning smoothly
  • Develop concept notes and project proposals in collaboration with other program staffs
  • Preparing and contributing to CEHRO publications, briefing papers, training materials, legal opinions, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

To secure the financial sustainability of the organization, it may be necessary for individual staff members to commit at least 20% of their time on projects that are specifically designed to raise funds. These projects will be aligned to our programmatic engagements.

Work Hours: 40 hours per week,

Duration: One year contract with the possibility of extension

Reports to: Program Manager

Based at: Addis Ababa with field travel

Salary: Based on CEHRO’s salary Scale and Negotiation

About You

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of first degree in Human Rights, Law, social sciences, International Relations, Public Administration, project management, or related field;
  • Minimum of 6 years for first Degree and 4 years for Master Degree with proven experience in project management, project coordinator or officer position
  • Knowledge of civil society context and human rights situation in Ethiopia;
  • Experience in working with relevant projects from the governmental and non-governmental institutions involved in civil society, democratization, and human rights issues at the national level;
  • Experience in developing concept notes and project proposals
  • Able to use computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages,
  • Knowledge of effective participatory Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research systems
  • Fluency in Amharic & English is required (both spoken and written), and in other languages is an advantage.
