Job Description
The training coordinator will provide logistical as well as hands-on leadership and management oversight to all Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) capacity building activities in USAID/Ethiopia and USAID/Djibouti. Responsibilities will include:
- Provide planning and logistical support for CLA capacity building activities for USAID/Ethiopia and USAID/Djibouti, including: scheduling training sessions; reserving spaces; preparing/providing quality assurance for training materials; overseeing technological needs for in-person, virtual and hybrid delivery (A/V, projection, video conferencing etc.);, and supporting trainers/facilitators as needed.
- Liaise with client on training needs and coordination.
- Plan and co-facilitate pause-and-reflect sessions, workshops and other learning events.
- Oversee and engage in efforts to monitor and assess the effectiveness of capacity building activities.
- Coordinate closely with the CLA Capacity Building Advisor and Chief of Party to understand related activities and the Missions’ emergent learning needs.
- Supervise and provide coaching and support to a training team member.
- Contribute to creating a culture that values openness, curiosity and flexibility.
- Develop training and facilitation skills and expertise in CLA and adult learning in order to grow into trainer/facilitator role.

Job Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience coordinating meetings, events and/or training sessions in a professional environment.
- 5-8 years of experience facilitating training and/or learning events.
- High-level client engagement skills and experience.
- Some knowledge of and experience with: designing training courses using best practices in adult learning; developing use-focused training and job aids; facilitating training courses, workshops, and other reflection events; working with clients to translate capacity development needs into effective training plans.
- Strong management, coordination, teamwork, and planning skills, and demonstrated ability to work well with multiple in-country counterparts.
- Comfort with change and ability to adapt.
- Ability to work well as a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills in English.
- Strong writing and editing skills, including experience with terms of reference preparation
- Visual design skills, including PowerPoint
- Experience with hybrid (virtual & in-person) and fully virtual facilitation
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in organizational development, adult learning, capacity building, and/or Collaborating, Learning and Adapting in Ethiopia.
- Understanding of USAID processes and experience with leading training for USAID audiences.
- Understanding of and experience with Collaborating, Learning and Adapting approaches.
- Experience designing and assessing human and institutional capacities.
