  • Drive vehicle carefully in accordance with the law, fill petrol
  • When in the field service cars and carry out minor repairs ensuring cars are safe to drive:
  • Deal with all visitors, project partners and HelpAge staff in a polite, friendly manner
  • Deliver and collect documents to/from other offices;
  • office and international staff residence needs, ensuring furniture, electricity, plumbing, garden etc are always all in good working order – arranging for workers to fix items when necessary
  • Ensure vechiles are well always maintained (including regular cleaning, oil checking’s, keeping vehicle logbooks and service schedules); service cars and carry out minor repairs
  • Maintains documentation on purchases of goods and services for any references.
  • Ensure timely payment of pension; provident fund, income tax and withholding tax monthly
  • Assist in arranging all booking arrangements for visitors to the office, including visa arrangements, hotel bookings, airport pickup, etc.
  • Assist in government liaison including clearing imported items through customs, securing visas, work permits, and residence permits etc.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by line manager.

About You

Educational background: 

  • Minimum diploma in business administration, purchasing and supply management, or logistic management and related fields with at least third level driving license from recognized institutions. At least 6 years of experience is required in driving, liaising and logistic activities.

Project management support experience:

  • 6 years’ experience in supporting officers and others and experience in drive vehicle carefully in accordance with the law, experience in purchasing and delivery of goods and services, effectively liaise with suppliers and assist in handling visa process; hotel booking and organizing meetings and provide technical and operational support to the project teams. When in the field service cars and carry out minor repairs ensuring cars are safe to drive; ensure all passengers wear seat belts; ability to deal and communicate in English/ Amharic and in local language with all visitors, project partners and HelpAge staff in a polite, friendly manner; support officers in collecting documents to/from other offices and support staff for work related duties; ensure that vehicles are well maintained at all times (including regular cleaning, oil checks, keeping vehicle log books and service schedules) is a must; assist programme staff with workshop, focus group discussion arrangements etc. when in the field; understanding HAI Vehicle polices and implementing is required.

Person Specifications 

  • At least diploma in business administration, purchasing and supply management, or logistic management and related fields.
  • Some mechanical knowledge
  • At least 6 years’ direct work experience in non-government organization, UN or similar agency in driving and liaising, logistic/general services, or other similar position.
  • Able to travel at very short notice to difficult environments, often in a very basic living conations
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work proactively and supportively with in a team
