Job Summary: The Communication and PR Director is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Ovid Holding’s communication and PR efforts. This role requires a highly strategic, results-oriented leader with exceptional communication skills and experience in managing complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision & Planning: Develop a long-term (3-5 year) strategic communication and PR plan aligned with Ovid Holding’s overall business strategy and vision. This plan should encompass all communication channels, target audiences, key messages, and measurable KPIs. The plan must consider the diverse nature of Ovid’s businesses and adjust its approach to the varying needs of each subsidiary.
  • Brand Management: Develop and maintain a strong, consistent brand identity for Ovid Holding across all communication platforms, both internally and externally. The plan should include the development of a clear brand voice, visual identity, and messaging guidelines. The Director must ensure consistency across all subsidiaries.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with national and international media, proactively pitching stories and managing media inquiries, aiming for consistent positive coverage and crisis preparedness. The Director should develop targeted media lists considering international markets.
  • Digital Marketing & Content Strategy: Oversee all aspects of Ovid’s digital marketing efforts, including website content, SEO/SEM, social media, email marketing, and other digital channels. Create and implement a comprehensive digital content strategy that aligns with brand guidelines and engages target audiences. The Director should create an effective content calendar.
  • Public Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and manage relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, community groups, and other key stakeholders. This should include proactive engagement, lobbying efforts (when needed), and community outreach programs that enhance Ovid Holding’s reputation.
  • Internal Communications: Implement effective internal communication strategies to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with company goals. This includes regular newsletters, town halls, intranet updates, and other relevant methods. The Director should analyze employee feedback to improve internal communications.
  • Crisis Communication: Develop and implement comprehensive crisis communication plans to proactively address potential issues and respond effectively to actual crises. This includes training programs for key staff members.
  • CSR Communication: Develop a strategy for effective communication of Ovid Holding’s CSR activities, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and community development. This strategy should involve measurable outcomes.
  • Measurement & Reporting: Establish and track key KPIs to measure the effectiveness of all communication and PR activities. Develop regular reports for senior management, showcasing progress and recommending adjustments to the communication strategy as needed.
  • Team Leadership & Budget Management: Manage and mentor a team of communication and PR professionals. Oversee the budget for all communication and PR activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

About You

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a senior communication or PR role, with proven success in managing large-scale projects and teams. Experience in the construction/real estate industry is highly desirable. International experience is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Fluency in English and Amharic is essential.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans, resulting in measurable outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of media relations and digital marketing strategies.
  • Experience in crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
  • Experience managing significant budgets.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations & best practices in communication and PR.
