Job Summary :- The Plant Protection Expert is responsible for safeguarding crops from pests, diseases, and weeds to ensure optimal yield and quality. The role involves implementing integrated pest management (IPM) practices, monitoring field conditions, diagnosing crop health issues, and recommending appropriate control measures. The officer will also work closely with farm managers, agronomists, and other technical teams to develop and execute plant protection plans that align with the company’s agricultural objectives and sustainability standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Designs and conducts periodic reviews and appraisals of the situation of plant pest and pesticide problems in the farm,
• Advice the farm manager on necessary actions to implement pest and pesticide management techniques,
• Prepare pest assessment schedule (Variety, Plot),
• Prepare pest assessment reports in type of pests, stage of the pest and/or the attack level and submits the report daily for decision,
• Collect samples of unknown pests and weeds and submits for his nearest boss for identification,
• Assess the post spraying the pest control chemical efficacy,
• Keep records of sprayed plots and varieties regularly,
• Inspect the chemical spraying activity on the field and check the technic and condition of spraying, recommend corrective action,
• Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualification and Skills

• BSc or MSc Agricultural engineering or Agronomy or Horticulture or Related fields of studies.

Expreiinace

• 5 years for BSc
• 3 years for MSc
