Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the job is to ensure that all glass products meet the required standards of strength, clarity, durability, and safety while maintaining operational efficiency and minimizing waste. This role is responsible for overseeing quality assurance processes, managing inspections and testing procedures, leading the quality assurance and control team, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, the job holder is responsible for developing quality management systems (QMS), allocating resources efficiently, and implementing risk management strategies to maintain the highest quality standards and ensure customer satisfaction.
Major duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of strategies, policies and procedures for effective production operation and ensures their proper execution.
- Establishes and implement quality standards and control procedures to maintain product consistency.
- Monitors and supervises quality control inspections and testing for compliance.
- Conducts root cause analysis on defects and implement corrective measures.
- Leads, manages, and develops the QA/QC team to enhance operational efficiency.
- Provides training and mentorship to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and industry quality regulations.
- Stays updated on legal and regulatory changes affecting quality requirements.
- Collaborates with customers to align products with specifications and quality expectations.
- Coordinates with suppliers to ensure raw material quality and maintain consistency.
- Prepares quality reports with performance trends and corrective actions.
- Maintains accurate records for audits, compliance reviews, and quality management.
- Plays vital role in staff development; motivates, encourages and inspires the workforce under his/her supervision and exercises leadership to ensure that employees are contributing their best effort for the attainment of goals and objectives the company.
- Manages properly and keeps control of the fixed assets, IT resources, information and other assets of the department and conducts regular/periodic verifications as deemed necessary
- Set outs appropriate mechanism/s and periodically monitors, reviews, and evaluates group as well as individual performances to check whether groups as well as individual goals are met as targeted.
- Conducts periodic employee performance appraisals and provides them with reasonable feedback to ensure further improvements in future performance.
- Ensures that strategies, policies, procedures, plans, annual targets, etc. are clearly and timely disseminated to employees under his/her supervision
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Education
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Statistics, or related fields.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, preferably within a glass manufacturing out of which 4 years in supervisory position.
Skills
- Expertise in defect identification and resolution.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Expertise in resolving quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to optimize processes and address defects.
- Strong leadership and people management abilities to mentor and guide teams effectively.
