The MelesZenawi Foundation (MZF) is a living memorial, primarily guided by the intellectual aspiration to carry forward Comrade Meles Zenawi’s ideas and ideals. This, in turn, requires understanding and interpreting his rich and complex legacy in ways that allow room for critical debate from varied perspectives, including perspectives exploring the possibility of reinterpretation in the light of changing circumstances and unforeseen challenges. The Foundation can serve those actively engaged in realizing his vision by encouraging a deeper and wider understanding of his words and deeds. In light of this, one of the pioneer activities of MZF is the creation of a research and publications department that can influence public policy in Ethiopia and across Africa.
