Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA)/Sasakawa Global 2000 Ethiopia (SG2000) is an international agricultural development NGO operating since 1993 in Ethiopia to support the improvement of productivity and profitability of smallholder farmers by building their capacities along the entire agricultural value chain. SAA/SG2000 is organized into three thematic work areas; Crop Productivity Enhancement, Postharvest Handling & Agro-processing, and Human Resource Development (training for mid-career extension agents, and strengthening the capacity of extension and advisory services) while mainstreaming cross-cutting issues such as Monitoring, evaluation, reporting and communication (MERC); Business Development/Marketing, Nutrition and ICT. MERC is an important component of the SAA/SG2000 program to support the three thematic areas in overall planning, implementation, coordination and supervision and enhancing evidence generation on effectiveness of the SAA/SG2000’s agricultural extension models.
