Job Purpose
To research, plan & implement farms’ planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques to improving crop yield.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Develops planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques, improving crop yield, and solving problems.
- Develops planting and irrigation schedules, budgets, and timelines.
- Researches and promotes agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, climate, weather, and pest damage,
- Assesses crop production of the farm,
- Evaluates and improves seed quality,
- Carries out laboratory tests of soil, seed, and crop samples,
- Performs quality control for seed caliber and soil standards,
- Visits fields to collect seed, plant, and soil samples,
- Tests samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes,
- Conduct soil analyses and develop nutrient management plans,
- Recommend and oversee the application of fertilizers, soil conditioners, and other amendments to improve soil health,
- Assists with the plant sourcing, testing, and selection,
- Keeps detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples,
- Generates reports and presenting findings to management, clients, or other interested parties,
- Performs other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
About You
Qualification and Skills
- BSc or MSc in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant science and related fields of studies.
Experience:
- 2 years for BSc
- 0 year for MSc
Skills:
- Strong research skills,
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Communication skills.
