Context and Scope of the Position
Under the general supervision of the TRD Project Manager and direct supervision of Transition and Recovery Assistant – TRD, the Community Facilitator will be responsible for the following:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Support logistical needs of the project activities, including receiving of materials, communication and distribution
- Support in monitoring laborers at field sites and track material receipt, storage and delivery at sites
- Coordinate with IOM SMS staffs, site level local administration bodies, community groups and stakeholders for proper beneficiary targeting and to avoid duplications
- Support and ensure that trainings, capacity development activities, awareness-raising activities and knowledge and information sharing particularly in community mobilization reach to target beneficiaries
- Support TRD project implementation through distributions of improved and energy-efficient cooking stoves, awareness raising and other related tasks
- Mobilize communities (beneficiaries, local administration bodies, partner staffs and other relevant groups) and disseminate information about the project to promote community support
- Hold regular meetings with target communities and other relevant members to familiarize them with the projects and its objectives and engage them in the process
- Submit regular updates, lists and field reports to the supervisor
- Facilitate and participate in staff/donor field monitoring and visit
- Undertake duty travels related to project implementation.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned.
Job Requirements
Educational Qualification
- University Degree in Social Sciences, business administration, or other relevant fields
Professional Experience
- 2-year relevant work experience in humanitarian setting for Degree holders and 4 years for Diploma holders
- Working experience in shelter constructions, development and planning in humanitarian projects or comparable field,
- Strong writing and reporting skills,
- Familiarity with the International Organization, UN agency or diplomatic mission an asset,
- Good computer knowledge in MS office packages.
Languages:
- Thorough knowledge of spoken and written Afan Oromo is required
- Thorough knowledge of spoken and written English
- Knowledge of other local languages is advantageous
