Key responsibilities include answering calls, processing and assigning work orders, developing efficient routes, monitoring status, and keeping detailed records. This role is crucial for ensuring timely and effective responses to customer needs, whether for deliveries or emergency situations. Dispatcher job involves scheduling and coordinating routes for drivers, ensuring timely deliveries while managing real-time changes due to traffic, weather, or customer needs. Key responsibilities include communicating with drivers, customers, and internal teams, preparing and maintaining dispatch records, generating shipping documents, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency with dispatch and GPS tracking software.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Scheduling and routing: Develop and optimize daily routes, process work orders, and assign tasks to personnel based on needs, schedules, and immediate requests.
• Monitoring and tracking: Monitor the location and progress of mobile units and shipments, using mapping software to find the best routes.
• Coordination: Liaise with other departments, customers, suppliers, and service providers to ensure smooth operations.
• Route planning: Develop efficient delivery routes and adjust them as needed throughout the day to accommodate road construction, traffic, or last-minute changes.
• Communication: Act as a central point of contact for drivers, management, and customers, using two-way radios, phones, and dispatch software.
• Record keeping: Maintain accurate logs of dispatched calls, driver routes, delivery times, and truck maintenance schedules.
• Documentation: Prepare dispatch documents, generate freight bills, and ensure drivers have all necessary permits.
• Problem-solving: Respond to unexpected issues like delays or breakdowns, making necessary arrangements to keep deliveries on schedule.
• Compliance: Ensure drivers and operations adhere to all applicable transportation laws and company safety regulations.
