Key responsibility

  • As HR & Communication Manager, you will be based in either Debre Bihran or Addis Abeba. You are responsible for the implementation of the HR & internal Communication Strategy in all Boortmalt facilities in Ethiopia. You will oversee all aspects of Human Resource Practices and procedures in compliance with local regulation, HR Group strategy, internal Communication Strategy and business objectives.
  • Your responsibilities are, and not limited to:
  • Provide advisory and support to our managers/supervisors in their daily people management tasks but also in the structuring and development of business projects.
  • Support and ensure a proper implementation and follow up of HR & communication initiatives in the region, aligned with the group HR strategy.
  • Manage day to day employee relation issues and industrial relations (where applicable) with regards to all types of employed labour force in the entity, including internal and external, municipal labour organizations, unions, etc.
  • Ensure the legal compliance of people related matters within the region
  • Manage all HR processes from the onboarding of the employee up to the termination (recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluations, absenteeism, sickness, terminations)
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process in alignment with group policies
  • Assess training needs of each employee to plan, budget, implement and monitor training plan. Identify, tender and select training providers and tailor the training scope and content to the demand of the company. Maximize and monitor the use of internal training platforms and courses.
  • Provide advisory to HR HQ with regards to specifications specificities of the region
  • Manage and oversee the payroll of all Boortmalt employees and outsourced staffing in coordination with the other HR team members and the payroll providers
  • Supervise and train HR team members in the region
  • Provide effective internal communication on HR related topics
  • Implement communication initiatives in the region
  • Budget / Reporting / Cost controlling: full ownership of the HR budget
  • Develop and implement HR reporting systems (headcount, forecast, and budget), in accordance with the guidelines of the CPCO and Group HR Controller
  • Analyse actual HR cost variances vs budget/forecasts on monthly basis, identify and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Have a CI mindset and promote well being activities in the region aimed at building the culture and values of the business. Own and manage the HR related initiatives and projects as per the Culture Roadmap, Sustainability Roadmap and X-Matrix.
  • Recommend solutions to improve employee satisfaction, performance and retention in order to become the best place to work and to strengthen the employer brand. Help and support line managers in performance management, especially relative to objective setting, employee performance evaluation and reviews.
  • Encourage international mobility and ensure compliance thereof in alignment with the Group (International Mobility) Manager
  • Be an ambassador of the Boortmalt culture
  • Frequently travel and visit all locations of the operation, including the malting plant, head office and warehouses, support the local teams through dialogue, face to face communication and acting as value ambassador
  • Constantly monitor the local labour markets in each location of operation with regards to trends, S&D, comp&ben competitiveness. Proactively propose and drive changes, alterations as needed, collectively and individually.

About You

Qualifications:

  • Master’ degree in HR or labour law or relevant by experience
  • Minimal 5 years experience as an HR Manager
  • A proven and strong experience in international operational and multi-site HR role
  • Proven experience in a multicultural environment handling changes processes
  • Strong social and interpersonal skills
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and integrity
  • Team player and good organizational and leadership capabilities
  • Experience with payroll and time registration tools (ADP, Kronos, … )
  • Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of the Ethiopian labour law is required.
  • Fluent in English, any other language is a plus.
