Kurmuk Gold Mine PLC (KGM) is a subsidiary of Allied Gold Corp, a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, with mining operations in multiple countries including Ethiopia, Mali, and Côte d’Ivoire. KGM holds a Large-Scale Gold Mining License and three contiguous Exploration Licenses. These licenses are located in western Ethiopia, approximately 750 km from Addis Ababa and about 90 km northwest of Assosa, in the Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State. KGM is currently engaged in both mine development and exploration activities at the site.
INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY:
Location: South Africa (Training) | Duration: From 4 to 12 months training in a foreign country
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The KGM Engineering Department invites passionate and motivated individuals to apply for our International Apprenticeship Training Program in South Africa. This initiative is part of our commitment to building the technical capacity of Artisans and Engineering graduates, ensuring effective planning, operation, and maintenance of mining and related infrastructure.
Training will be conducted at a reputable, accredited engineering training facility in South Africa. Apprenticeship opportunities are available in the following Occupational Trades:
- Boilermaker(Welder)
- Fitter/Technician
- Electrician
- Diesel Mechanic
No deviations from the minimum criteria will be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.

- Comprehensive CV
- Certified trade-related certificates and/or engineering related tertiary qualifications
- Proof of residence
- Copy of valid passport
- Police clearance certificate
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- A verified Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Science, along with relevant verified trade qualifications/certifications and experience
OR
- A BSc degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
In addition, applicants must have:
- A valid passport (valid for a period of at least 30 days beyond training period)
- A medical fitness certificate
- Police clearance certificates from Ethiopia or where you may have resided for 12 months or longer after turning 18 within the past 5 years
- Bank statements – you must have a minimum of the equivalent of R3000 (24,000 Birr) in your bank account on application for study permits
- Willingness to travel and train abroad for up to 12 months
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA
Candidates must also demonstrate:
- Sound technical knowledge
- Strong teamwork and English communication skills
- Willingness to undergo full screening protocols, including medical, security, and qualification checks
- Applicants with valid in-country trade qualifications and experience may undergo a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment at the training facility to determine any training exemptions.
