About the Job

The Attorney and corporate counsel will prepare pleadings based on the legal requirements as stipulated in the Civil Procedure Code of Ethiopia and other relevant laws before all courts in Ethiopia. He/she conducts research on different business law-related issues with a view to ensuring compliance and training. He/she prepares manuals, working procedures and other legal documents when requested by the different departments of the company. He/ she also engages in reviewing legal documents, advising different departments of the company and in the administration of shareholder affairs. When necessary, he/she also liaises with the department with the different governmental institutions, including the Document Authentication and Registration Office, the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office, the Investment Commission, the Ministry of Trade, the Ethiopian Income and Revenue Authority, etc. He/she also assists the office in renewal of business licenses, investment licenses, trademark licenses, investment permits, etc.

Well-prepared legal pleadings

  • Initiate and pursue legal proceedings as required by the Company, i.e., prepare writs, defenses, submissions and other pleadings both “for and against” the Company
  • Prepares pleadings based on the legal requirements as stipulated in the Civil Procedure Code of Ethiopia and other relevant laws
  • Prepare, file and plead cases in court in pursuit of amounts owed to the Company

Properly developed and /or reviewed legal documents

  • Draft and/or review legal letters, contracts and agreements, and monitor legal obligations under agreements to ensure compliance, as requested
  • Assist in reviewing legal documents, preparation of procedures, manuals and codes of conduct
  • Research and prepare legal opinions on various matters
  • Develop guidelines

Well-thought-out and well-researched Legal Advisory services

  • Advise on statutory compliance
  • Guide departments and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
About You

LLB/Bachelor of Laws with one year or above of relevant experience,
