JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Finance Officer will be appointed to carry out assistance tasks such as cash payment, data registration, reconciliation of financial data, and provide other financial support to the Berhale, Zonal Cluster Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in ensuing that proper financial policies, procedures, and systems are operated and maintained at the field office.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are compliant with local laws, donor regulations, and internal policies.
- Keep custody of petty cash and maintain cash register book.
- Prepare petty cash payment voucher, obtain approval, and effect payment.
- Coordinate per diem and other workshop/training-related payments.
- Record transactions into SAGE accounting software.
- Maintain a proper filing system for financial documents.
- Prepare and pay income and withholding taxes timely
- Follow up and ensure that travel and work advances are settled on time/as per the requirement of USAID and EngenderHealth’s operations standards and bring to the attention of the finance and admin officer any deviation from the standards.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly expense reports for the Central Office
- Perform liaison duties with banks to process CPOs, drafts, and collect bank statements and other documents as required/delegated.
- Work closely with finance and admin officers in budget and report preparation.
- Link with the Finance and Administration Officer at the Borena Office to monitor the regional activity plan and prepare applicable BVA reports.
- Assist in the coordination of year-end audits for region-specific requests.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by his/her supervisor.
About You
- Degree in Accounting.
- Trained in USAID rules and regulations or related work experience managing USAID-funded projects
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience. NGO experience is preferred.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office application software and knowledge of accounting software particularly SAGE-X3 is highly preferred.
- Ability to effectively work in a team.
- Good command of English.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
