Role Summary
Habesha Steel Mills PLC is seeking Mechanical Engineering graduates to join our Quality Assurance department as Lab Technicians. The primary focus of this role is to conduct rigorous physical and mechanical testing on steel products (Rebars) to ensure they meet national and international quality standards (ESA/ISO).
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment, including Universal Testing Machines (UTM) for tensile strength tests.
- Perform bend and re-bend tests to check the ductility of steel samples.
- Conduct hardness testing and metallographic examinations.
- Measure and record the geometric properties of steel (diameter, weight per meter, rib height).
- Document all test results accurately and prepare daily quality reports for the production team.
- Calibrate measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure precision.
About You
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field from a recognized university.
- Experience: 0–2 years of experience. (Fresh graduates with a strong academic background and an internship in manufacturing are encouraged to apply).
- Technical Skills:
- Understanding of the mechanical properties of metals (stress, strain, yield strength).
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data logging and reporting.
- Personal Attributes: High level of integrity (quality results must be honest), analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
